Good product. For those trying to decide whether to get this 'L' version or the other read on...
Well made and works great. No noise. Some smart design features: it has no switches and it switches on when plugged in. Pairing is achieved just by plugging one unit into the other and they can be charged in this way too, meaning they require only one lead. All good ideas. Compared to a lot of the cheaper units, the battery is clearly physically bigger (and probably of higher quality) which will be why Boss can claim 10 hours of operating time. I tried two cheaper makes before buying this: The Lekato WS-70 and the Getaria one: The WS-70 has rave reviews everywhere but it did horrible things to my sound despite otherwise working well - it squashes out all the attack and is dull. The Getaria is great for its cheap price but it's a little noisy when used with distortion and the construction is somewhat flimsy compared to the Boss. I agonised over whether to buy this version or the version which simulates the treble roll-off caused by the capacitance of a lead. Even Boss' own sites contradict themselves a bit, with one saying the 'L' stands for low impedance and the other saying the only difference is the treble cut. After watching a Youtube video of a guy comparing the other one to a good lead, it seemed more like it was simulating a curly lead from the 1970s. The treble roll of was too much so I opted for this one - which they recommend as being for active guitars and synths etc. My own comparisons found this to be very similar to using a good quality lead so I don't really see the point of the other one. Why they didn't just make one model and put a switch on it for that I don't know. Also, on this 'L' version, the transmitter is a different colour to the receiver which seems like a useful and obvious thing to do, whilst on the other version they are the same. Unless you think that a fairly substantial treble cut would be a good thing for you I would buy this one. UPDATE Have now done four or five gigs with the system and it's been flawless. Worth the extra money over the cheaper systems.

Great bit of kit.
I get fed up tripping over cables. This is easy to set up and I have found no difference in sound quality. I found two boss models on Amazon and I picked this because its easier to charge up (Plug transmitter into receiver, attach mains and it charges up). Plenty of time to play before recharging. It easily gets you through the night. I used it for rehearsals for 6 hours before recharging and it still had juice in it. The main light changes colour when it needs charged and that hasn't happened yet. However the main test is freedom of movement and I cant fault it yet. I moved around whilst playing and found no difference in sound quality. Also, all pedals work fine. Its placed at the start of your pedal board with all effects added after it. There is also an input socket as well as an output to next pedal (or amp). This then means that if you see the low charge light come on and don't want to take a chance, you can then plug in a normal cable between guitar and the receiver. This then overrides the receiver and you can play as you would normally. Excellent bit of kit.

Great bit of kit
There are a few negative reviews of this product which is slightly confusing so hopefully I can tell it like it is. I have owned lesser type products and my band have bought higher end products. I went with this one and we play big stages and I found this product to be great with my 5 string active bass. Never had it cut out or get interference, the only slight downside is the slightly flimsy build - you wouldn't want to drop it too many times from the look of it. But then again, mine has survived being on the road for 6 months now so for the price I think this is unbeatable.

Premium item and Performance
I had a less expensive set up however I decided to upgrade having seen how the Wazza Air headphones performed. Out of the box after after a quick charge, pairing was a dream and it literally is plug and play - one into the guitar an the other into the amp. Latency isn't an issue and the sound quality is equally to having a lead plugged in but with none of the restrictions. The only thing I would have liked was for the transmitter to have been hinged to lay flat along the body of the guitar so I could leave it in when putting my guitar into its rack however that's a small quibble and the performance upgrade is noticeable. If you are prepared to pay the premium you will get a premium performance.

6 month update - solid, can't go wrong with boss.
I still haven't made my mind up on these. I have three guitars, one with active emgs, second with active fishman fluence and third with passive Seymour Duncan. Even though on the box it says it's designed for passive pickups, it seem to work fine on my guitars with active pickups. They are easy to set up. Edit: 6 months have passed, I've played 4 shows at the start of the year, and these haven't let me down. The lights are very helpful because I like to know in advance how much charge there is left, so even when playing shows if you suddenly find yourself in the red region, you will still have enough charge to finish the show. Although I always make sure they're charged a night before. My only criticism would be the bulkiness of the product. On two of my guitars it's not too much of an issue because of the jack position and guitars' body shape conceils it, but on my PRS (jack is in the most common placement), the transmitter sticks out too much. This is very noticeable. I wish that the transmitter's body was on a pivot so the bulk of it could have been adjusted and hidden.

Boss WL-20 disappointed
High price and as a 2.4ghz just unreliable connectivity imo. Probably due to the 5.8ghz network I have. Very robust and well made though.
