Thorogood GEN-Flex2 8” Side-Zip Black Tactical Boots for Men and Women - High-Shine Leather Heel & Toe with Goodyear Storm Welt and Slip-Resistant Outsole

I've exclusively bought 511 boots until this purchase. I've been wearing these boots as a full time 911 EMT for about a year now and they hold up great. They definitely took some time to break in but have become very comfortable. Provide great ankle support during patient extrication. The boots take a great polish and have held up well. Tactical boots seem to fail in the zipper area but these so no signs of wear. Will 100% purchase another pair when these wear out. However I expect to get another 2 years out of these.

I purchased as a gift, and he loves them. A year later and they’re holding up well, and get continued use. Love the Thorogood brand for their comfort and quality.

These boots are nice. Comfortable and I felt like I didn't have to break then in, initially. Beats advised they run half a size bigger, so if you're a 9 for example, get 8.5! They pick up a great luster (I prefer the famous spit shine, without the actual spit of course). It usually takes one coat and it's good to go for a week.

Thorogood has been known to pump out some very nice products over the years. Thorogood has such high enough standard that it is the boot of choice at my station. I researched a lot of boots prior to purchasing a new pair due to getting burned on a previous boot purchase from another manufacturer that only lasted about eight months before falling apart. Day one, these boots straight out of the box are already impressive. The aesthetic look that these boots have far surpasses that of most any other boot out there with the spit shined toe and heal caps that give it that nice parade shine to show off on foot patrols or around the station but I will most likely be taking a couple of layers of Lincoln wax to the rest of the boot to create an all over spit shine just due to preference. Immediately I put on my 5.11s with these boots to see how the bottom of the pant legs would fall on the top of the boot, as expected they fall around the ankle area without bunching up. Next came the soul test where I took some heavy duty shipping boxes and proceeded to flatten them with my feet. The stiffness of the new boots helped a little I'm sure but the soul it self felt very good on my feet while the boxes just imploded, you can really feel the thickness of the soul giving you that "I'm gonna totally be able to go curb stomp some one with these." feel good kinda feeling. This pair of Thorogoods feature their GEN~flex2/ VGS Technology souls that feature several layers of padding including a high density polyurethane removable footbed, another EVA footbed, Gen~flex cushions and flexibility pads, a Welt channel cushion, an interavtive visible gel system VGS, composite shank, molded EVA midsole flex channel and a multi-directional traction lug design. The souls are also oil and slip resistant. These boots do feel as though they could be a half size smaller, I usually wear a size 12 boot and that is what I ordered but my feet do slip just a small bit inside the boot while walking. I'm sure just wearing a thicker pair of socks will help address this issue. This is my first pair of boots that have a side zip and so far the side zip is already feeling like a gift from above. The amount of time and effort just simply zipping up the boot is amazing. The first time I put on and took off these boots I actually stopped and said, "Wow, that was easy." The zipper allows you to bypass the always annoying lacing and unlacing that comes with the territory of an eight inch boot. After a 7-7 shift you'll feel so relieved to just unzip, slip these boots off and roll into bed. I have yet to wear these in the rain or snow so I can't review on how waterproof the zipper is or isn't although all the hardware on this boot is rustproof which to me sounds pretty promising. It’s been six months since I bought them and the soul is still together and working great I walk a lot for work has a correctional officer. I will be buying these boots again. Also, they have great arch support, they are lightweight, and they are waterproof all the way up to the neck. Not to mention easy to shine.

I wear them as station boots as a paramedic. 🚑. I wore them every shift for about 3 years total. The soles wear out first, then the zippers. I literally had paper clips as zipper pulls, and disintegrating souls for about the last year before I finally retired them this week. It’s time to order new work boots and after a lot of research, I decided to go with this exact pair of boots again. You can’t beat the quality for the price. Instant comfort straight out of the box, quick on and off with the side zipper, they fit and stay on your feet even with them unzipped, which is nice, and not to mention how sharp they look. Great product! Excited to break in my new pair. They do take some time to break in, but they are comfortable straight out of the box just very stiff. Highly recommend for EMTs, paramedics and firefighters. See attached photos for what my old boots looked like after three years of daily use. Most EMS boots typically last roughly 8 months to a year these far exceeded my expectations.

Decent boots, comfortable. My first pair last me almost 3 years. I eagerly picked up a second pair after that... and the quality just wasnt the same. These boots squeak and make noise. The inside material wears away and shreds very quickly. The stock insoles needed replacing fast. And the worst thing -- and likely the reason I won't buy these again -- the soles wear our quickly. I tend to wear out soles online the outer right edge quicker than other areas, but on these boots, the sole seems so much more prone to wear like it almost melted away. After barely a year of use, there is just no keeping them.

The most comfortable boots right out of the box! They look great. Well made. The side zippers glide. Walking in them is wonderful.

Quality build boot! If your tired of the same old boots at your tactical shop, then these boots are what you want. Ive always wanted to wear a 8" zip side boot just always felt it hard to get used to. Well that changed once I got these boots. After a few work shifts(12's) I was accustomed to them and love them dearly now. Good quality zipper, also when you lace up the boot the leather is very giving almost contouring to your foot which gives your foot the feeling of "one" with your boot-the way it should feel! Temperature- after 12 hours your feet could run warm however the zip side helps if you need cooling(on your breaks) Highly recommend this boot if your tired of buying cheap build boots!

Las botas están de lujo, a la medida correcta, con buenos terminados. Son muy cómodas y anchas. Se pueden calzar con facilidad gracias al cierre y a las agujetas. Es de esperarse que sean algo pesadas pero no influye en su calidad.

Love these boots, as soon as I got them I ended up working a 20hr day and had no issues at all.

Not bad for Chinese made boots, comfortable, seem pretty solid, not a safety boot but I use them for work anyway and so far so good. Get them on sale , hard to justify paying full price for anything made in China.
