Works on squirrels!
I've had the fake snake for about 3 days and am amazed at how well it works. We live in a highly wooded area and the local squirrels greet me every morning while they go through the process of destroying the plants my wife has on our deck. They even jump onto the window sills starling us on occasion. Since I put the inflatable snake on the deck I've not seen a single squirrel on the deck and have seldom seen one in the yard. They have stayed about 50 yards from the deck and do not run from tree to tree near the house like they used to. My wife is thrilled and wants me to order more. I'm planning to put one in my garden pond to see if it works on the noisy bullfrogs that invade every night, update to follow.I also don't think it will scare people. It is obviously a fake, very big and shiny.

It Worked For Me
I didn't give this high hopes, but tried anyway and was surprised that it did. After 15 years of rodent and whatever else is out there biting into every one my tomatoes and after trying everything short of building a green house, I have to say that not one tomato has been bitten into. I am using the rubber snakes in addition and I place all these creatures strategically around the tomatoes that are about to turn since those are the first victims. I was hesitant to do a victory lap until more tomatoes were turning. All of the tomatoes are turning red now and not a single bite. Yay!

Doesn't even scare kids
I've used these snakes for a few years on a large persimmon tree. The birds love this fruit when ripe and I've had to resort to various remedies to fend them off. Unfortunately, I'm not sure that these snakes are realistic enough to scare the birds, and my wife has remarked that she has observed some birds swinging on the snake tails! I also attempted to surprise a 6-year-old neighbor with one of these snakes; he laughed in my face. (I know this sounds cruel but my persimmons are large, delicious, and prized. I protect them.) In this instance, I've allowed a rather generous 3-star rating because these snakes MAY be helping to keep other critters away -- e.g., squirrels and possums. There's really know way to know for sure because I'm still filling my traps with these guys. As an alternative to these snakes, I would recommend the bright colored (scary eye) balloons to discourage the birds. They seem to work much better.

They are JUNK!
They look great, but the quality if garbage. Two of the three I purchased leak! One had multiple pin holes, while I haven't found the leaks in the second one, but it only holds air for a day at most. Now I have to contact the manufacturer/distributor, and make arrangements to send them back for replacement. I assume the return postage will be on me, but I'm not sure yet.I WOULD NOT recommend these to anyone.

Birds do not care -- ate all our peaches anyway
Purchased to put in our one peach tree. Put both of them in there. They do look very real. Birds did not care. Attacked our beautiful peaches anyway.

Sorta work
I would have to say that the birds went right by these for the blueberries and my figs, but the squirrels who got all my figs last year stayed away until one of the three snakes I had got punctured, and looked pathetic. The squirrels got most of them this AM. I am giving this 4 stars because they are cheap and worked better than anything else I have tried and are easy to put in a fig tree. Plus they are cute floats (for decent swimmers) - see nextI also used them as swimming floats at a nearby quarry. It takes two of these to keep my skinny and poorly floating body where I can relax and breathe without effort at staying afloat. And your compatriots will be impressed.

They Work!
I have always used old garden hose as "snakes" in the past for our two 15 X 60 ft. gardens. This year the rabbits "caught on" to my tricks. I purchased two of these inflatable snakes thinking "What the heck, it's worth a try!", and THEY WORK! No rabbits in my beans or anything else in the garden. It is October and I and put them -inflated - in my garden shed. We live in the country and tend to get mice in the old wooden shed - between the snakes and the fake owl in my shed I have NO MICE! Will purchase one or two more.P.S. Remember to tell your friends and family they snakes aren't real. They have scared at least five people who have passed by my garden which, to me, shows how lifelike they must look to pests!

Works
We use this in the garden over the tomato plants. The birds don't like it. They do tend to deflate, so we keep refilling them. You do need to place them early in the game. Don't wait till you have a lot of trouble. (One day had a bird above that loves our tomatoes. I picked up the snake to move it & didn't realize I was squeezing it, which made it move like a snake. The bird above started sending out danger-alert calls to the other birds. Found that was a good one. So I tend to do that when I re-inflate them.)
