Professional JavaScript for Web Developers

The book is suitable for JavaScript developers who seek to enhance their understanding of the language. Wrox does succeed in providing a refreshing take of JS beyond the fundamentals to include some advanced techniques, in addition to DOM and BOM concepts worth knowing. Provides a great reference book.The physical condition of the book was less than ideal upon arrival. About 5 pages within the book are slightly damaged though the content is readable. There is nothing to say here to be honest. This is a very good reference book and if you are serious about any topic you should have some sort of reference on your desk and JS is not an exception. Also kudos to the author for this tome. It must have been quite a challenge writing a reference book on JavaScript which we all know has it's own fare share of idiosyncrasies and also it's constantly evolving, but he has managed to make the book accurate, approachable, comprehensive and up-to-date. Well done!

This is a great resource however there are a frustratingly large amount of typos in the example code portions following each explanation. For the most part they are just annoying and do not affect comprehension of the material.

This book helped me tremendously while studying for my coding interviews. Before reading this I thought I was prepared but I was definitely wrong! It's also a great resource to use alongside the MDN documentation, and is very up-to-date.

A few concepts were eluding me along my path of learning Javascript. It turns out I just needed a more technical and complete description of some core concepts. This delivers in spades!

I owed previous edition covering ES5 hence this one to cover ES6 was a logical continuation of my JS reference books.

Very comprehensive reference

I’m a professional programmer who has evolved into a PHP web developer. I know HTML and CSS very well, but never really learned any JavaScript beyond the basics. I decided it was time to take the plunge and acquire a more comprehensive understanding. This book is good. I recommend it for people like me.At the time of this review, some 5 years after publication, it is getting dated. I’m noticing many references to Internet Explorer, and almost none to Microsoft Edge. If you want the latest and greatest, I recommend purchasing the fifth edition. But much of the information in the book is valid and this is a less expensive alternative.Also, the JavaScript specification changes so rapidly that it’s effectively impossible to find a print book that is truly current. And since there are still a lot of older browsers being used, it may be some time before you can actually implement the latest JavaScript features in a production system without using some type of framework that hides the details behind its own syntax. I think this book will do fine.I recommend this book for existing programmers, even though it’s dated. I give it 5/5 stars.

Se você já programa em javascript e quer buscar mais base de consulta sobre suas ferramentas e meios de uso, este livro é para você.Se assemelha ao java script definitive guide, porém com menos dados sobre servidores e mais sobre a parte do seu uso no browser.Só não dou 5 estrelas porque não extende tanto como usar o código e as ferramentas, ficando para você buscar mais complemento em outros lugares.

Realmente es el único libro que necesitas de JavaScript si quieres aprender de manera avanzada el lenguaje. Es muy completo y en todas las versiones la calidad es muy alta. Con diferencia a otros libros, este explica de manera avanzada el funcionamiento que se ejecuta 'por debajo' del código, la forma de optimizarlo y los últimos avances en el lenguaje. Si bien no es necesario para ser buen programador de JavaScript, leerlo te hará ser aún mejor.
