Those scriptures are very deep, very profund. They aims as acheiving the highest ideal of connecting to the divine and letting Light and Grace flow in our life. This swami is really spiritual, and i can feel he really knows what he's talking about. Highly recommended. Don't hesitate to look at the author's commentary on this work. It really helps to better understand and practice the chandi path. He has a very good website, with lots of q&a and commentary.

A neccesary addition to my library

Swami Satyananda's translation of Chandi Path is the only accessible one for the average English speaking shakti sadak. Portions of of the book being chanted are also on Swamiji's website.

It's a full translation of the Devi mahatmyam, as well as other excerpts, mantras, etc. very well done and well out together. A must have for all shaktas

How can you rate the Chandi anything other than five stars, translated by someone who has performed the Sahasra Chandi Yajna multiple times. Few people on this Earth have done the kind of tapasya and sadhana Swami Satyananda Saraswati has done. I respect him. He has perfomed tapasya sitting naked on snow and ice, as well as in very hot water for a long time, where few people can even take a dip for more than a few moments. And he hasn't done this to please anyone's ego, just to please the Goddess and learn her and love her more and more. He has taught me how to love Shree Maa more than anyone on this planet, and I owe him my life. They say the greatest a student can do for his Guru is become one with God, and this book illumines the way, I know that, because every time I sing her praises contained in this book I feel more and more as though me and her are one. I should say a few things about this book for the beginner. One, this isn't a beginner's book, it is considered an advanced sadhana and Swami has it listed that way on his brochure of books. I don't mean to dissuade anyone from reading it, but it is a bit like learning high level theoretical mathematics before having mastered the basics. I recommend starting small with the small Durga Puja book at shreemaa.org, and practicing that for a while and then moving onto an intermediate book like Devi Gita. Durga is an extremely powerful Goddess. Remember, she cuts the heads off of demons. That is her job. So don't think if you are going around eating meat, lusting around, and being violent with others in word or deed, especially lying, that she will be gentle to you. There is a lot of heat in these mantras, the kind of heat that burns poisons and toxins deep within your tissues, from other lives even. She is that powerful, so you have to treat this book with a lot of respect. That is why I recommend starting easier with the simple Durga puja to get you accustomed to the process of worshipping Devi in her more ugra forms. Even when I started doing Lakshmi puja, who is the most benevolent, there is still a lot of energy that is powerful. I love Devi and if you love her you will love this book. I recommend this book to anyone with an affinity for the representation of the divine in its feminine form, including those who have deep respect and worship for the Divine mother in the form of Mary, the Mother of Jesus Christ, especially the Virgin of Guadalupe. That is the Christian tradition of which I come from, and eventually led me to this I believe. This is the highest expression of Devi I know. It contains the Chandi Path, which is said to make her manifest by chanting it properly. I saw properly because there are many introductory mantras that should not be omitted if you are going to chant the Durga Saptashati, which is the middle portion of this book. Swami Satyananda wrote an entire book, though small, on the pronunciation and recitation of the Chandi, available at shreemaa.org. It is tough sadhana, even for a more advanced practitioner. In my daily chanting, I typically chant the beginning and end portions of this book to my desire, but leave the Saptashati alone unless Devi requires I chant it. But for now, Devi Atharvashirsha, Devi Tantroktam Suktam, Vedoktam Ratri Suktam, Tantroktam Ratri Suktam, Vaidoktam Devi Suktam, the Prefatory Mantras, Siddha Kunjika Stotram, and Pranam mantras suit me. The bhava that emerges from the Saptashati is truly amazing, and the praises contain there in are the sweetest song I know of. I would give my life for this book.
