FlexCage MB974SP-2B Tray-Less 4x3.5" in 3x5.25" SATA HDD Cage

You'd better buy some SATA III straight cables with this cage if you have not already had some.
Everything works fine except for two things:1) The first thing I did not like about this one was that ICY DOCK did not include any SATA cable with the product. This one would not work with right angled SATA cable. It would be best to have 4 straight cables with this cage so that you could make a full use of it. Now that right angled SATA cable is pretty common everywhere, it would have saved me some frustration if the manufacturer provided some straight cables with this product.2) When I turned on my PC after installing the cage, I heard a high pitched sound from the case. It turned out to be from the cage's original fan. This fan does not always run but every once in a while when the drives get warm enough, it will make a very annoying sound. Maybe it was a problem with quality control, I don't know but I am buying an 80mm Cooler Master fan to replace the fan.

One of the better drive racks
Works well and doors seem solid and predictable.

Wanted to like it but numerous design flaws
I loved the aesthetics of this cage and was excited to give it a try. However, there is a serious design short-coming that I hope Icy Dock addresses in future versions. The cabling options are terrible. Considering that the device takes up 3 bays, there should be a very easy way to cable this thing. Unfortunately there's not. You will definitely need straight SATA cables to attach to a very narrow vertical stack of ports on the back right. The power situation is even worse. At the back left are two stacked power ports which are narrow enough that you'll be mangling your power cables to get them attached. I have a Corsair HX series power supply with modular cables that did not fit nicely. Why they made it to tight and awkward to hook up is beyond me.
