OtterBox Defender Series SCREENLESS Case Case for Galaxy S10 - Black

The case itself is exactly what you would expect from Otterbox - sturdy with thick cushioning, should be great protection if I drop my phone. As a bonus feature, the rubber outside layer has little nubs that push the side buttons when pressure is applied. My husband cut off these interior and exterior nubs for the stupid Bixby button, and presto---no more accidently opening a useless app everyone hates when you're trying to adjust the volume! (Please note: I am not suggesting anyone do this, just stating a slight modification we made to the product that improved our overall experience.) I've noticed some complaints about the curved screen not being adequately covered, and I disagree---there is a huge gap between phone and table when the phone is placed facedown on a surface (see photo). It may be slightly less protection than a flat screen phone gets, but that is an issue with the phone and not the case. If you choose a curved screen phone, no case is going to provide you with the same kind of protection you had with your flat screen phone. That being said, this case is pretty dang close. Super happy, and the only downside is the limited colors that were offered.

Okay. I don’t normally write reviews, but this case is worthy! Sorry it’s so long, but the story is important. While out with my husband, driving 2 cars, we make a stop and I am chatting with my husband. Not thinking about it (I know, my husband already called me out for being an idiot) I set my phone on the hood of his truck. Not thinking about it, my phone stays on the hood of the truck. I go back to my car, and off we go. A solid 10 minutes later, driving down the road at 55mph, I realize that I don’t have my phone. I ask my daughter to call my husband and let him know - surely it fell off and I needed to turn back to look for it. My daughter calls my husband, and as I’m explaining, I WATCH MY PHONE FLY OFF OF HIS TRUCK. At this point, I’ve accepted the fate that the phone will be destroyed - but I need to get it so I can return it when I claim on my insurance through my provider. I turn around and find the phone laying in the road. After safely parking and making sure there’s no one barreling down the road - I run into the road and grab the mess of a phone, then run back to my car. I look at my phone while I’m in the car. At first it seemed ruined - the case was partially off the phone, a piece was missing from the case, and the case had some spots suffering from road rash. Instinctively, I remove the case. THE PHONE WORKS!!! Not only does the phone work, but there is NO damage to my phone. Not one scratch. Not one chip. Nothing. I do have a screen protector on the phone (this case in particular does not cover the screen) so that’s another miracle. But watching my phone literally fly through the air and smash down on the pavement, I am so impressed that this case did exactly what it’s meant to do. So, five stars Otterbox! Definitely getting another one!

By far the best brand case to protect your phone. I've always used the Otterbox brand since the original galaxy phone was introduced and the defender series is the best. My previous phone was a Galaxy S7 Edge which was always cased in the defender series. My lifestyle and job is rough and my phone was dropped many of times at all different angles and the Otterbox protected my phone with minimal issues. The only issue I experienced with the S7 case was that the otterbox built in screen protector was inhibiting the use of the touch screen but my screen never cracked or scratched and phone continues to work flawlessly. With the Otterbox s10 case there is no built in screen protector but upon further research I found that the S10 is built with Corning Gorilla Glass 6 which is supposedly impact and scratch resistant. No screen protector means more ease of use in regards to the touchscreen but I worry that with my rough lifestyle and job that the screen is more susceptible to getting cracked. Overall the S10 defender series case is a product that'll increase the protection of your phone. It's built tough for a tough lifestyle. I really like the feel as the textured rubber surface allows for better grip as well as more protection.

Delivery and Intial Installation Review : This review will have two parts to this review in different time frames , the delivery and installment , then use over time . I plan to write a review in 3 months , and then another 3 months later for a total of 6 months of use . So first part : delivery . I ordered the otter the night before because i cancelled my last order of the wrong case . Even though it said it would be delivered by 9pm the next day , i was worries my order would be delayed like one other product i ordered from . Not to worry , Amazon kept me updated and viola , my case came at around 7:30pm ( i wasn't paying too much attention to the time sorry ) . Went and got my package and we come to putting on the case . Taking the case apart was a bit challenging due to the fact that it was my first time using a defender , and i can be quite heavy handed and tend to rip or break things accidentally even when im careful . Even with my rough handling , my case was fine and nothing was damaged which is a good look . I like that it was hard to pry open because if applied correctly , it would be difficult for my phone to slip from the case . After putting everything together ,i noticed how much heavier my phone was and how " padded " the casing was . I feel like my case is secure . In the next 3 months , i will see how my case does along with an additional 3 months and perhaps even a year from now . I look forward to the results . P . S . Ive heard a lot of people complaining about their cases , but ive noticed that all those people ordered the purple one ; i have the blue one . Perhaps avoiding the purple one would be best ? Also also , i will confirm from other complaints that the sides are kinda out on the sides . It's leveled with the case to be exact . Be mindful of that . Well , see you in 3 months ! ((

The case is pretty sturdy and has held up to a few dropped phones. There won't be a problem with it lasting a long time. The only issues are the buttons, where it would be nice to have a little flexibility. The buttons make it difficult to push in the internal buttons and you often need to hold it with two hands to push it in. If Otter could find a slightly different method or design on the buttons it would make it five stars. The flaps for the plugins are fine, and definitely work well to keep dirt and dust out, and I find I need to keep them open often for as much battery as I use. The edges are sturdy, and take a beating without issue. The feel is excellent and has that Otterbox rubber feel that allows you to grip the case better than a UAG or other slick plastic feel. So again the only changes to make are the buttons, and they work fine, but could be more pliable.

The fit on the phone is excellent, and the quality is top notch. A few big heads-ups: no installation instructions included, and installation on your phone is not intuitive! You have to use Amazon's website to find the link to the installation instructions from Otterbox. Also, if you are switching from a case with a thin plastic screen protector to this one with no screen protector, and you use a fingerprint to sign into apps, SAVE YOUR OLD SCREEN PROTECTOR PLASTIC. The glass without the protector is so slippery your finger will slide around and won't be read properly. Cut a small horizontal section of your old protector off, clean it, and place it over the fingerprint area, smoothing it tight with a credit card...it will stick, and your finger will be stable on that spot as before.

After I destroyed 2 work phones within a matter of 3 weeks, I figured I should buy a better case than the cheap plastic ones my company was providing. This case/clip provides the full coverage I needed to protect my phone from accident drops. The front edges are raised beyond the screen so your screen will never make contact with the floor. The corners are durable rubber instead of hard plastic like my previous cases. Both of my previous phones were totaled after popping out of the belt clip and landing on a corner resulting in a broken case and shattered screen. That's not happening with this case. The phone sits very secure in the clip and you actually have to apply quite a bit of pressure to pop it out. Some people may not like that but for me it's perfect. Getting a screen protector to work with this case is a challenge due to the snug fit of the case around the edge of the screen. The belt clip also doubles as a phone stand. All in all I think this case is worth the money for the piece of mind.
