Perfect tool for the amateur
This tool has the same basic design and function as most other cable pullers. The construction and materials are good and though it may not be the preference of professional mechanics, it will work well for home / amateur / field repair work.

almost as good as the park tool
I used the park tool when I worked in a bike shop. But this works almost as well and is a lot cheaper. Its a simple tool, you really don't need "the best" for adjusting cables, this is working out just fine for me.

Ok alternative for occasional use
Works well for adjusting cables with one hand. I wouldn't purchase this if you are doing any type of volume work, as the metal is kind of on the thin side.PS: the grips have that awful Chinese plastic smell!

Should last a lifetime and we’ll over half the cost of name brand.
Title sums it up pretty nicely. These are not complicated tools. And with how little Ill use them, they should last my entire life. So far, so good. No complaints.

Wish it was a little easier to use
This works best for right handed people and facing upwards. So if your left handed or want to use this in various positions it’s hard to grab the brake cable (which only works in the most openest position and is a tad had to line up for it to grab).

Easy to use if you use it correctly.
The first thing the tool does when you squeeze the handles at all is grip the cable. If it isn't gripping the cable, you are squeezing the handles before getting the cable where it needs to be. You need to move your shifter or brake to the position where the cable is the most slack before attaching the tool to the cable and loosening the adjustment nut or screw. You don't want to try to tighten the cable like a guitar string, just take out the slack and then give it a little tension to bring it into the adjustment range. If it doesn't get your shifter or brakes working correctly, something else is wrong. My friction shifter turned out not to have enough tension at the adjusting screw, so the shifter lever would move by itself away from where I wanted it when I let go of it. A little more tension on the screw at the shifter corrected that issue and this tool made taking the slack out of the cable much easier than my usual method. I've read reviews saying that people are tearing up cables with this tool and similar tools made by other companies. If that is happening, they're using it incorrectly.

Works good, for a good price
I was looking at the blue one, and just couldn't see spending that much money for it. I'm sure it's a fantastic tool and all. But I'm not a pro, and I just don't need it. (I do own some of the blue tools, for things that I'll use a lot or that weren't that much more expensive than the cheap ones.)This one fills the bill. It's solidly made and the moves smoothly without being excessively loose. The notches for the ratchet could maybe be a little bit more aggressive? But they work just fine as-is.This cable puller will do the job for a good price, and should last me for many many years. I'm very happy with it.
