Arranging Music for the Real World

Best, most informative book I've read on music in a while. Take my advice and buy it. I never write reviews for Amazon, but this book is top shelf and deserves it. I am a full time musician and make a good portion of my living composing music.....that said, this book kills. I read it. On my second reading, I highlighted significant points in the book....there were many. I have bought more than my share of books on guitar/music/composing/mixing/mastering and I would easily say this is in the top ten of too many books to count.And lastly, don't be fooled by the cheesy cover....this book is all business and worth your time.All the best,John

If you're in a want-to-be star band, you might want to learn something about organizing the musical package. It's the difference between the garage and the studio. Think about it.

I"ve little experience with orchestration and this book helps, giving solid foundation and there's alot to "get" as a beginner. The attached CD also helps. I've gone through the book once. Planning to go through it again.

I found this to be an excellent book on arranging for the person new to it or for someone like myself who hasn't done much lately and wishes to get back into it. The recorded examples help a lot as I can remember when the books only gave the written music and you had to hunt down the recordings to hear the actual music played. The book is well done and has many examples of different musical styles and a variety of different voicings. I enjoy this book very much.

Excellent book, lots of examples in the CD. The book gives you tons of useful tips for the working or weekend musician. I gave it 4 stars because it already starts with concepts like open or closed position, and doesn't explain them, making this book a bit advanced for a beginner. If you're not a beginner, this book is for you!

Good book. Arrived safe. No CD came with it though, but a Download version of the audio instead.
