Spend your money on something that doesn’t support vaccine fear mongers!
Unfortunately I can no longer support Jenny after finding out she is an anti-vaccine advocate. Vaccinate your kids!

Fun pregnancy read
This was such a refreshingly funny read during my first pregnancy. While not every moment she detailed was relatable, as a whole, she manages to capture the ups and downs of preparing for motherhood. I constantly found myself nudging my husband, saying, "See?! Not just me!" It's worth noting that her views on autism aren't discussed in this book, and the latter chapters stop following any linear storytelling. Several of the later chapters seemed like afterthoughts that should have been removed or, at the very least, rearranged in the editing process.

Down n dirty...
As a scared, first time mother to be, this book kept me cracking up while also you going over the things people just don't talk about. Several books offer information on the actual stages oof pregnancy and labor, which is of course absolutely vital. But, you can only take in so much oif the same, or contradicting, information. Belly Laughs offered her experiences in a raunchy, Jenny McCarthy type of way. The things that happen and make you go "what the...." Definitely recommend as an addition to your pregnancy education books.

Would not recommend
Hmm save your money. This is an elementary-level book about the author’s personal story. The style of writing is very young. She also kept referring to her celebrity status throughout the book... I actually had to google her to find out who she is! I had no clue I was reading (basic) pregnancy information from a former PlayBoy playmate...She does mention the typical pregnancy systems, but doesn’t really offer any special insight. I would not recommend to my friends & instead am looking for something more science-based and informational.

Pregnancy stereotypical
This was supposed to be a free book as part of my baby registry, however I was charged for it, and I was never issued the refund that customer service promised me. I shrugged it off and let it go, leaving the book unread until my 39th week of pregnancy. I had found myself laying in bed one night, wide awake, feeling a sudden sense of dread about labor, delivery, and parenthood. Since it was clear that I wasn't going to get any sleep, I decided to give this book a shot.Yes, this book mentions some of the less than beautiful sides of pregnancy, and though pregnancy is a different and unique experience for every woman, I felt it was over exaggerated and a bit stereotypical.

Less worry, more laughter
I really liked this book - my sister had loaned me an ‘academic’ pregnancy book that just scared the pants off of me with all the warnings and in-depth complications described. So this book was a welcome relief - it comes across as honest, as thought the author is just a friend explaining her experience. She goes the extra length to make light of all the annoying symptoms that come along with pregnancy (while being blunt about it so there’s no confusion) and downplays any serious complications she faces near the end of the book so as to not worry you! Much appreciated.

Not funny and was supposed to be free?
I thought I was choosing this book as a freebie, but ended up getting charged for it. I thought oh well and didn't say anything about it. I wonder if I didn't think it was that funny because this is my 2nd pregnancy, and I think she's exaggerating about literally everything...which is probably the intent, but I found myself rolling my eyes more than rolling in laughter. Meh. :( Sorry...I had high hopes for it, but just couldn't get into it!

Had me laughing until I cried!
I used a code to redeem a free ebook as an exclusive offer for creating an Amazon Baby Registry. I am so glad I chose this book! I am 40 weeks and 4 days pregnant and boy was I in desperate need of some comedic relief! I am going back and forth between being content waiting for my little girl to arrive, and completely impatient and irrational and suddenly bursting into tears. Reading some of Jenny’s personal pregnancy emotional roller coasters had me laughing hysterically. I started crying and my husband asked what was wrong with me and I tried reading him the excerpt and couldn’t even read aloud without choking from laughing so hard and more tears streaming down my face! So relatable and hilarious! I read it in one afternoon and luckily feel in a much lighter mood to get me through these final days of pregnancy!

Read something actually useful. This is NOT.
I was very impressed by the reviews and the fact it's a best seller in US. It was my first book after finding out that I was pregnant. 10th edition?! How impressive is that?! What a waste of my precious gestational days. Celebrity's diary. With all exaggeration, futilities and attacks of diva. She spend paragraphs after paragraphs giving details about how nasty she was with her husband, how misinformed were her questions to her doctor and how blow dries were crucial during her pregnancy - even when she found out she was in labour. Yes! She drove while in labour to have her hair done! I detested this book. It's not informative at all - unless you are interested to know that she ate a tray of brownies chocolate almost every day, put over 30 kg - and guaranteed it's absolutely normal amongst most women - and how upset she was when people recognised her on the street and she didn't look her best (really?!). I wish I could have my money back. I don't recommend even as a joke. A really bad joke. By the way, I didn't laughed once. Not even close.

Bought this as it is highly rated on the internet ...
Bought this as it is highly rated on the internet. Have mixed fillings about it.It is one woman's experience of pregnancy and child birth. She gives positive vibes in terms of self perception and acceptance of your changing body. Read it as any other pregnancy/childbirth story you can find. But do not treat it as a some sort of standard.

Not funny and not helpful
I was encouraged by the other reviews here and thought I'd give it a shot, who doesn't want to get a laugh when pregnant? I don't find Jenny McCarthy funny normally so that should have been my first hint. Not only was the book totally unhelpful, it was not funny at all - so a completely useless read. I read through the whole thing quickly, maybe under 2 hours, so the book is light on content, not funny - and quite frankly, you just want to be done with it. Even though it only took 2 hours, it was still a waste of time.

Just for Gags
The book has an easing perspective on pregnancy and is good for a light read especially at the onset when most people around you start treating you as if you were a patient. But one should not forget that this is just for gags. One should not take the practices followed by the writer during her pregnancy as a guide. While every pregnancy is different, one must try not to treat phenomena such as vericose veins, excessive vaginal discharge or constipation as normal during pregnancy. Given my experience, diet and guidance by medical practitioners can solve them. And yes, I agree with her. Its never cool to have your belly touched by random people. BRUSH OFF THAT ERRING HAND NO SOONER THAN IT APPROCHES YOUR BELLY !!!

Don't read if you don't want to know about what really happens in pregnancy.
If you think pregnancy is a walk in the park, and don't think anything bad could happen during your own pregnancy, this book will put things into raw perspective for you. It'll scare you to death, but in a way that'll prepare you for the majority of what's to come. If you like living in a little perfect bubble where nothing gross happens, than this book isn't for you!

Nice read
The book is quite interesting to read in the beginning. But found the same tone getting repeated over and over till the end. This kind of led to loss of interestOverall a good one to read
