terrific value, nice build quality
I'm somewhat new to soldering electronics. I've done some lightweight stuff all of my adult life, but only recently concentrated on assembling and soldering Arduino projects. I just switched from a general-purpose soldering iron to a more precise Xytronic 258 soldering "wand". It's low-budget, but performs admirably, putting heat exactly where you want it. Despite the inexpensive tools, my soldering technique has improved dramatically, and now I decided to holster the iron in this perfectly realized soldering iron stand from Elenco. The spring coil designed to hold the heated tip has another, inner coil to dissipate heat before it could ever reach the base. The base itself is a piece of folded and formed metal which is heavily powder-coated for durability. I'm writing this somewhat hoping that Elenco could switch to baking on a ceramic finish, which is sometimes referred to enameling. With the proper care, however, the powder-coat is likely sufficient to last a lifetime's worth of soldering. It is perfectly weighted, priced and finished. If you have been using a wand-type soldering iron without a proper stand, then you will be more than pleased with this stand from Elenco. There are zero options and no assembly instructions. There doesn't really need to be,... just assemble as indicated in the photo, and enjoy a simple, but effective addition to your soldering work area.

A Good Deal, Great Quality, & Holds 3 Different Irons I Have Securely
A real decent iron holder. Has a double spring which certainly helps to hold the iron securely without any hangups, and keeps the outer spring cool, unlike the single spring cheepo ones. The only issue I found was that the base tended to slide around pretty easily when you'd want it to stay put. I easily remedied that with some 1/8 inch x 1-1/4 inch dense foam tape. I cut a piece for each side of the base, stuck it on, and wrapped it under. The foam contacts the work surface and it stays put. It only moves when I pick it up and move it. I also bent out each side of the base about 1/4 inch to give it a bigger footprint, it won't tip over. I didn't knock off any stars for doing these mods. There easy fixes anyone can do. A great buy at $6.00 and great quality. I'd buy it again if needed.

Functional Soldering Iron Stand - Recommended
This Soldering Iron Holder works well for lighter "pencil" type soldering irons. The barrel of the iron fits into the metal sheath and it is encased by the metal spring to prevent accidental burns. Although there are no instructions, there really isn't much to figure out and had the unit assembles in seconds. The included sponge is really quite sad and not very useful at all, so just replaced it with a piece of kitchen sponge. This works works well for my needs and is a reasonably good value for what you get. Recommended! CFH

For the price, this gets 5 stars
FOR THE PRICE this gets 5 stars. I found it to be quite adequate for the occassional soldering tasks that I do. Some have commented on the small sponge. It is small, but I found it to be perfectly adequate as well. I like the fact that it is not glued or attached to the base so that I can merely put the sponge under the faucet and not the whole base. Saturate the sponge, squeeze it out, you're good to go! Like some others have mentioned, the base IS light-weight and would NOT support the weight of my standard-sized soldering iron. To give it extra ballast, I added a piece of 4"x6"x3/4" plywood from some scrap wood that I had on hand, and attached it with a single #8x1-1/4" wood screw (in place of the screw and wing-nut that came with it), using the existing mounting hole in the base. (You can remove the inner sleeve by twisting and pulling gently on the black plastic ring that the iron goes into in order to be able to get at the screw with your screwdriver.) Works great! Quite stable now and I am completely satisfied. Can't beat it FOR THE PRICE!

Works as a soldering iron stand.
Its a cheap soldering iron stand for those that don't want to spend much on such a simple contraption. My only qualms with the product is that the sponge is crap and not like the pictures, I use an older soldering iron which is heavier than normal, the spring will hold it but it does droop a tad, and finally my stand did not come with a inner spring like pictured but rather a vented metal tube, which is mainly aesthetics issues. I gave it a three because the pictures don't exactly match up and the spring could have been a wee bit stiffer, oh and the fact that the sponge is a piece of crap that they could of at least spent an extra couple cents to put in a decent one.. All in all it does its job very well.

Supports the soldering iron sufficiently
This works great out of the box. I added some weight to add some additional stability because my iron + cord is on the heavier side.

Solid value. Well worth five stars
I was expecting a cheapo contraption to get me through just one project (if it wasn't for the price i probably wouldn't bother with a stand at all). It is indeed basic. Which is a plus in my view. Parts are well made, the black framing is some sort of metal, NOT plastic, which was a pleasant surprise. There is a "groove" to hold the wire spiral from slipping around the bold+nut thats holding it down. The spiral has a "mouth" with an inner spiral that holds iron snuggly yet "insert" is simple and smooth. I saw people refer to the sponge being "flimsy". It simply needs to be hydrated, its that kind of a sponge. Its not lush or anything but perfectly adequate. Bottom line, to my own surprise, its a keeper.

Un buen y sencillo stand de estilo clasico. Viene con la esponja pero no viene pegada al stand, lo menciono por que hay quienes la prefieren aderida.

A little light so has a tendency to slide around a bit but hold the iron perfect and is sturdy. Great value

I always read the reviews before I decide on a particular item I want to purchase. A few of the reviews for this product stated that the item was so flimsy that a big concern was that it might tip over too easily . Another one stated that the base should be heavier...all good points except....I went ahead and bought one for my Hako iron and yes , it could tip over....if you turned And hit it with a solid object like , say your elbow or a baseball bat it would likely tip over. Anything would tip over in a case like that but as far as it being stable... it's as stable as it gets for an average size iron. The base is made of metal bent on both of the long sides so that it sits higher and leaves a space between the base and your table or countertop or.?? It's not cast iron but seriously, for 10 bucks this is money well spent. Would I recommend this item? YES. You would have to look long and hard to find a ready- made iron holder this good for 10 bucks and my guess is you'll be looking for a long time

Es buen material, durable. podria tener un poco mas de peso en la parte de la base negra para que fuera excelente, podria voltearse con un jalon del cordon.
