Q: Would this neck rest be suitable/sturdy enough for doing a fret leveling/crowning/polishing job on a guitar?

I’ve used it for polishing, but for leveling and crowning I’d use a neck caul.

Sorry, but I don't know. You might be able to turn it on it's side and make it work. It has a v-groove on the sides as well as on the top. It can be used either direction. It's a nice thing to have around if you decide to get one and cannot use it inside the case. If you lay it on it's side and measure the groove to the outside edges, it's 3 7/8 inches wide and 3 7/8 inches tall. (Remember, this is with it laying down, which is how it will be placed into the case.) The length of it, standing up with the base down, it is 4 7/8" tall. You will have to add a little for the thickness of the neck as it doesn't go all the way down into the block. Hope this helps out. "Keep on picking"!

This is what the box says “has 5 different angles and heights to find the best position for the instrument “. It has 5” high neck support for acoustic and bigger body string instruments. 4” high flat angles on two sides of cube to support fret and fingerboard when working on the back. And 4” high curved angles on two sides of cube to support back of neck for electric guitars and lower profile string instruments. Hope this helps.
