Best Panang Curry Paste
Mae Anong curry pastes are the best on the market aside from making them from scratch. This company takes no shortcuts on flavor. Their ingredients are authentically Thai. You are in control of how much (hotter) or how little (mild) you use. Don't forget to add coconut milk. The curry paste comes sealed in a marked bag. Once you open it, you will find a thick paste of ingredients such as Thai red chili, kaffir leaves, lemon grass, garlic all authentic to Thailand cuisine. The paste DOESN'T smell like cat litter at all, as one reviewer wrote. This person knows nothing of Thai cuisine and their glorious fragrances in their food. Try this product. You will be hooked.

delicious and potent!
Delicious amazing curry! Panang is one of my favorite Thai dishes and thankfully an easy one to make at home. This particular blend is very flavorful especially when you mix a little peanut butter in the coconut milk. It is a bit on the spicy side, but can be easily toned down. I mist say though, I was mindlessly going off a Pinterest recipient that probably used american panang curry and boy did I mess up! "Empty entire contents of curry packet into pan" DO NOT DO THIS, it is a huge mistake. Add teeny bits to simmering coconut milk. I hope you won't make my mistake. I gleefully tasted it, expecting joy explosions and my lip is still on fire.

Feels like the first Penang, feels the the very first Penang
The first time I had Penang curry was at Typhoon in in Portland, OR. It was beyond words delicious. I live in a small town or I would make my own paste. This is amazing and gives me that flavor that I first made me fall in love with Penang curry.

Great Curry, But Very Hot
This curry paste definitely seems odd (texture and smell) when you first open the bag, but it is good, especially when you mix it with another milder curry paste. Unlike most other pastes, this one is drier, generally more flavorful, and a lot hotter. I like spicy foods, but I do have my limits, so I mix this with a milder panang paste (from Maesri) to get the flavor I want at a heat that doesn't make me cry through my meal. What I especially love about this paste is that it's vegetarian. There is no fish sauce in it - it's up to you to add it. I typically start by sauteing the pastes in a pan with a little coconut cream until the aromas become strong, and then I slowly add more coconut cream and coconut milk until I get the thickness and flavor I want. I don't think the cooking instructions tell you to saute the paste first, but I think it makes the curry taste better. Since I'm a vegetarian, I use sauces made from mushroom extracts in place of fish sauce in my curries.

Good, not to spicy, flavorful
This one is not too spicy for my western friends. It’s flavorful. I use about 2 tbs of curry paste for 4 serving of Panang curry

Not as great as I've heard- Stinks like old, dead cat
As I was cooking with this it smelled so awful my husband came to the kitchen and asked why dinner smelled like cat litter. I was so disgusted I haven't been able to eat thai food for months which is one of my favorites. The final taste was okay although there was too much lemongrass taste. I was disappointed because I've only heard great things about this product.

Good Value
It's Great!! Overall better than I expected. The package had a lot of curry paste, better than the small jars you get at the grocery store. Also it's a great flavor. I will buy this one again.

No complaints here
This tasted fine. I followed the directions. I only gave it a 4 because I don't have a reference to base it off. You get a decent amount. I store my extra in a mason jar in the refrigerator. I have been trying a lot of curries lately. This is a mix between red an yellow. Like I said it tastes fine, but I am not sure what to judge it from.
