The seeds sprouted in 6 days!
These pop faster than most hot peppers do. The hot ones usually take a little while. I decided to do the wet napkin and Ziploc route with this one. Want to give them a head start. I put four seeds in a wet napkin and sealed it in a ziplock bag and put it where it wouldn't get cold. Should be in a warm source but I don't have a lot of warm sources in my trailer. That was 6 days ago and all four has a small root spreading out of the seed so so germination in six days is impressive for Scotch Bonnet. Will update this review as it grows and will make comments on the flavor and heat.

The seeds work.
I waited almost a year to plant these. I put some seeds in my AeroGarden but the writing rubbed off, so when it eventually sprouted, I had no idea what it was. It quickly grew a scotch bonnet, but the pepper ripened too quickly while too tiny (see picture), so I transplanted the plant to a container. It has flourished! It now has more than 15 peppers growing on it. They won’t ripen for a while, so I can’t tell you what they taste like, but the plant is thriving. Fur fun, I tossed a few seeds into another outdoor container, not expecting them to sprout since it’s late in the season for Texas, but 3 have recently sprouted. So, the seeds definitely work.Scotch bonnets are perennial, so if you bring them indoors and care for them over the winter, you won’t have to start from scratch next year. I recommend getting a big container, though, because they grow almost into bushes. You’ll also need stakes or a pepper cage because they bear so much fruit, and all peppers are susceptible to heavy winds. They grow best in 80 to 85 degrees, and Texas summers are actually too hot (slows down ripening). Also, pepper plants are self-pollinating, so you only need one. If growing indoors, you’ll need to brush the flowers. Removing some fruits early on to ripen in a windowsill can allow more energy for smaller fruits to grow.I don’t recommend keeping it in an AeroGarden. It will hit the lights pretty quickly, and cherry tomatoes from the AeroGarden are tasteless with thin skins, so I can’t imagine peppers fare much better. But the AeroGarden germinated the seeds much faster than outdoor planting. There was some shock when I moved it into an outdoor container. All the plants I do that to look nearly dead for a few days. You just have to water them a lot every morning until their roots have grown out.

Not Scotch Bonnet Seeds, Habaneros.
I mean, they work but they are not scotch bonnets. These are Habanero seeds, I have 8 plants fruiting and each one is a Habanero pepper. Try to find a reliable source for seeds online elsewhere.

Every seed sprouted. These are fantastic peppers. I love them. I sprouted the seeds from the best pepper from last year’s harvest. Makes fantastic hot sauces!
