Alpine SPS-610C 6-1/2" Component 2-Way Type-S Speaker System

Since I got my car I wanted to put in flush mount tweeters because that's what the top-of-the-line models had. After 10 years I finally did it and it looks awesome. The tweeter housings around the tweeter are made out of metal so it doesn't look cheap. Also the black color matches my interior so it doesn't look awkward. The tweeters can be pointed in any direction. And the price on them was the best part. I saw these at Best Buy and they retail for $129.99. I searched all over the internet and the best price I found on these was here on Amazon. They come with there own mounting brackets but the installation instructions aren't very helpful. FYI if it"s you're first time replacing car speakers I highly recommend buying speaker connector harness's for your make/model car. It'll make the job ALOT easier and they're only $5 on Amazon compared to $20-30 at retail stores. Also, I recommend speaker baffles because they protect the speakers from the outside elements(yes water and dirt does get in between the door trim panel and the actual door. You'll see when you open it up). After you install them, you're going to want to adjust to the equalizer levels to get an even cleaner sound. Good luck

I purchased these speakers on Amazon to replace the factory speakers on a 2003 Toyota Highlander. They are excellent speakers. A few warnings, though. I thought I could install them myself. I figured if I was able build my one PC with custom components then I should be able to install these speakers. Bad move. You have to take out a lot of car items like the door cover and radio/ac face plate. I wasted 2.5 hours before I came to my senses. Unless you know how to take about all those items then don't waste your time. Take it to a local installer. My second warning is to allow the speakers to burn in. This is true of any speakers but I forgot about this fact. The more powerful the speakers the longer the burn in. It took about 35 minutes before these speakers performed like awesome speakers. I don't know the exact time because I didn't actually time it with a stop clock. I was disappointed the first time I first heard the speakers after picking my car up from the installer. The ride home was about 10 minutes. I then set up my Android phone and played around with the new CD/radio/blue tooth head set. That took about 15 minutes. I then road my car to the local theater. That was about a 10 minute ride. The sound got progressively better but nothing outstanding. The ride home, though, was breath taking. These speakers make such clear music. It was insanely awesome. I would recommend these speakers to any one who is looking for great sound without having to break the bank.

I know these speakers are rather old now in their production cycle. I have an 02 RX300 that I replaced all speakers in. The surrounds were completely missing from the cones. The Coaxial version of these speakers are fantastic, I put them in the rear and haven't had any issues. First thing first, Fitment is very hit or miss, I have the older metal basket version of these speakers and I had a lot of problems fitting them to the door of the Lexus. The stock spacers will fit the baskets but the spacers don't fit the doors very well, some spots will fit but you most likely will end up drilling a clip into your door to properly drill the speaker down. Other adapters that fit the Lexus better do not fit the metal basket of the speaker. So use the stock spacers and make it work. These speakers cannot handle bass very well... Like pretty much at all, you can go down to 70 hz but you wont hear much and they're really designed to be used with a subwoofer in addition. I have my amp's crossover set to 100 Hz and they come out a lot better. you will also want to probably buy, or make your own passive crossovers for the tweeters as I have found out after months of demoing, that they are not very good. They don't crossover to a high enough frequency imo and you will get a lot of coloring / lower frequencies where you don't want them. They don't pop, but the crossover isn't good enough, period. Run your own from your amp, and or your headunit. Also one last thing, if your stock tweeters are loud. These are louder, beware. I have to flip mine upside down into the dash to help mute it out, as the eq at -6 they're still a bit bright up front but it detracts from the coaxial in the rear. Some songs are more rounded with the tweets unplugged from the components with just the coaxials doing work on the high end. Sound quality is fantastic when they're dialed in properly, no complaints here! Value wise, these aren't the most expensive component sets by far, but they definitely get the job done and they will be more robust than OEM speakers. They can handle quite a bit of power too. Most people will not be able to stand sitting in the car with these on full tilt (Using a Clarion APX480M to drive them.) They're loud, they're clear, they're worth it. Great entry level components.

I had just bought 2 sets of these speakers, and got them installed in my MPV by my installer. The first significant difference over my previous sets of speakers is that the vocals were clearer, second significant difference is that the instruments sounded clearer too. There's better speakers around, but for this price, this is a very good set. For your information, I am running 4 component speakers connected to an alpine amplifier with good cables, and a 2-channel amplifier which was bridged and a 10-inch subwoofer box connected to it. UPDATE TO MY REVIEW (3rd July 2012): I have used the speakers since October 2011, and in January 2012, I had to replace the 2 midbass speakers as they were not producing enough midbass. These midbass speakers are too weak and it was painful to hear only the treble most of the time. I give it one star now, and this only star is for the good tweeters which can play the highs very well.
