Wanted similar Kiddie model so that installation would go exactly into the same spot. Simple enough, just had to replace bracket and used same screw holes in wall. Went for 10 year batters to avoid yearly chirping and replacing batteries.Ordered and came quickly. There's a lithium battery that is encased in the unit , that is due to last 10 years, and can't be replaced. Our old Kiddie we replaced the batteries numerous times, but it still only lasted 10 years, so it's probably cheaper than all the batteries we replaced over the years, and makes it maintenance free. Since carbon monoxide rises, the alarms should be placed on or close to the ceiling. I have hard wired smoke alarms, but there are no electrical boxes installed for carbon monoxide alarms. I had wanted to purchased plug in alarms, but normal outlet heights and locations are not the most effective locations for placing the alarms. I purchased one thinking that it had a remote sensor, but found that it had a plug in transformer and an 8 foot wire going to the alarm. It looked terrible draped down the wall and limited the locations were the alarm could be located.
