Works perfectly on M1 MacBook Air 2020, but be CAREFUL...
I've been using this with an M1 equipped MacBook Air, and so far the experience has been very positive. All metal build quality and the finish and color matches the laptop closely. For reference, I have a Space Gray MacBook Air, and the Gray version of this adapter. They are very, very close in color, only off by a very slight shade at very particular angles, but close enough to pass as official! See pictures.I also like that Purgo hasn't chosen to brand the device with a huge ugly logo. The branding is only on the bottom of the unit while connected (to the left side), so kudos for maintaining the nice clean aesthetic. All this wouldn't mean a thing if it didn't work properly, of course.Thankfully in my tests so far, it has performed as expected. I'm able to easily connect USB flash drives, and external drive, power cable (on the clearly marked USB-C plug that supports power delivery) and did some imports from my SD cards into Adobe Lightroom, at the same speed (or faster?) than my full size iMac with a built-in SD slot. I haven't been able to test the HDMI out yet, but the cable that I have around my desk fits nicely. I'll update with test results if not as expected.Fit: It fits snugly into the ports on my MacBook Air, easy. I also like the small apple-style led light that shows that it is connected and powered. I imagine it would be more flush with the edge of a MacBook Pro, but sine I have the Air, the tapered chassis obviously is incongruent with the side of this adapter. Not a huge thing. In short, it's one of the best designed and priced devices in this category of adapters.Things to be AWARE of:I advise using an adapter like this while the laptop is on a stationary desk, and NOT in your lap. Reason is simple physics: It's a solid, inflexible block of thin metal protruding from the side of the laptop, connected only by the strength of two USB-C plugs to your computer. I can imagine a situation where you hit it with your knee, or try to lift the computer while it's connected to a phone or external hard drive, and the force of impact UP or DOWN will snap the USB plugs off in their ports. If operating from bed or couch is a regular thing, then it might be better to purchase an adapter that is more dongle-like, with some flexibility built-in.SD Cards: If you have this adapter connected to the LEFT side of your computer like I do (MacBook Air only has ports on the left) then you'll need to insert an SD card into the reader UPSIDE-DOWN, that is, with the metal contacts facing UP. You don't want to force it the other way and risk damaging your port or SD card.4K Monitors/Gaming: It says in the description and in the instructions that are on the box: This only supports a 4k monitor output at 30Hz / ie: 30fps. So if you're trying to hook this up for some 4k gaming, it's going to top out at 30fps.USB ports and unplugging difficulty: The fit from my devices is so snug in these ports, which is great for security. But, that also means that when I'm trying to remove them, I also risk pulling the whole adapter off the laptop. So you have to hold the adapter against the laptop awkwardly while unplugging your device. That's important if you have multiple things connected at a time and only want to remove one device while the other ports are transferring data etc.Aside from those very minor (and somewhat obvious) caveats, this is a solid buy all around!

Great adapter
I work as a video content producer for a company. Every week I have two SD cards worth of footage and one microSD card with audio files to upload to my internal hard drive for editing as well as two external hard drives for a backup. With this adapter, I can plug in two external hard drives with the two side-by-side USB ports, I can put one SD card and one microSD card directly into the card slots, AND I had a standalone SD card reader and USB-to-lightning adapter from my last workflow that I can plug the second SD card in, AND I can still be charging my MacBook on the other side of my computer. It speeds up my workflow SO MUCH as I can transfer and upload all my footage at once to THREE different locations from THREE separate cards. Total game change. PLUS, the last adaptor I had like this was more of a "dongle" design, so it always seemed floppy and unstable. This one is super stable as it plugs in two places. Definitely, worth your money! I've been using it for two months so far and it's worked flawlessly! Plus it's pretty tiny. Wins all around!

This is the one you want
After searching far & wide for a USB-C hub for my MacBook Pro I found this one on Amazon. The reviews told a good story so I bought it. No regrets as of now. But. A few points should be noted before you take the plunge & buy it yourself should you be looking for a USB-C hub.Ooohs & Ahhhs;- The design is very Apple like in appearance & form factor. Once it’s nestled into the side of the MacBook it looks like a natural extension of it.- The connectivity options cover just about any need you could have minus the caveat that only one of the USB C ports provides power which seems like a strange omission.- NO BRANDING! When will these accessory makers learn that while I respect their company & appreciate what they’ve designed I don’t like those ugly logos all over it. It’s enough that I paid for your product I don’t need to advertise it for you as well. The product will speak for itself & trust me if it works as you’ve declared we’ll give all the word of mouth recommendations you need. So kudos to Purgo for hiding the logo on the bottom. Out of sight out of mind.- I like the small leather sleeve included to keep the dock safe inside when not in use. I wouldn’t think durability would be an issue inside a computer bag but why chance it?- A single small LED light on the side is perfectly adequate to tell me it’s plugged in properly & working. No bright distracting light bleeding into the peripheral vision.Pain points;- As noted above only one USB C port provides power. Why not both? I see no reason why this was not enabled right out of the box.- Apple’s USB SuperDrive is NOT supported. Again this is a strange omission as there’s more than enough power pass thru from the MacBooks USB C ports to handle it. Oh well, time to finally update that legacy media or move it to an SSD after putting it off for years & years.- The hub dozens fully snug into place if your using a protective shell on your MacBook. I use one as I travel quite a bit & frankly I’m terrified of reckless bag checkers at airports & other people bumping into my computer bag. The plastic shell protecting my MacBook is a cheap but effective way to protect it. This hub will work with a shell on mind you, but it won’t snug up against the frame & could break off right at the connectors if you get careless at your desk or your MacBook takes a spill. So I don’t risk it.None of the pain points adds up to more than minor inconvenience issues. No deal breakers here. The price is right & its working just fine for me. Recommended sp buy it without delay.
