Westcott Rapid Box Deflector Plate

Another great Westcott product. Fits multiple Westcott light modifiers.

Works well; I'd suggest a drop of super glue on the small bolt and then unscrewing the plate+bolt+connector from the main shaft in the softbox because the small bolt is easily lost during breakdown/transport.

It's hard to justify $20 for a stamped pieces of plastic and some mounting hardware, but it does do a great job in transforming the light output of the Rapid Box to something more along the lines of a beauty dish.The dish can be mounted two ways; concave out or concave in. I haven't really experimented with the differences, though I'm sure the differences would mainly be in the edge feathering, particularly if using it without the front diffuser panel. If you're using a Rapid Box and finding too many hot spots across skin, using this to ensure that all light hitting the subject is coming off of the silver lining can definitely help out the overall quality of your images.I suppose the glass-half-full explanation could be that by NOT including this in the original product, those who just want a simple softbox save a few bucks. *shrug*

Makes the soft box into an almost beauty dish. Worth the $20

This deflector helped a lot when it came to my shoots. I was getting hot spots on my subjects head. You are going to have to adjust your settings since it does deflect a lot of light.

Very easy to install and works great to evenly distribute light in my Rapid Box 1x2 strip. Highly recommend!

You are only getting about 75% of the functionality from your RapidBox if you don't use this for a beauty dish function. Awesome, actually, how great the light is. Adds just enough highlights to portraits to give them an edge without harshness.

It's what I wanted, and was easy to use. My only complaint is I wish the mounting screw had a finger grip texture on it because mine keeps getting locked and and I'm forced to find a screwdriver or back edge of a knife to loosen it. Otherwise works great!
