Access 2019 Bible

I am quite experienced with a lot of server databases as well as MS Access for smaller projects, and this book really helped me achieve the next level of expertise with Access in particular. I really appreciate the chapters around VBA and DAO - the simple, well-documented examples make the topics very approachable and got me productive quickly. I also like the fact that the book is written such that you can skip around and only take in those sections you need help or more information with. For example, I didn't read the VBA debugging chapter until I had a problematic subroutine; then, when I sat down to read it, it gave me just the information I needed to quickly find and fix the coding logic. Highly recommended for those who need a good all-around Access reference.

I don't usually do reviews, but I have to do this one because it was such a good book. It covers everything you need including extras. Very thorough and presented well. The author did a tremendous job.

I hesitated to buy this because I already have the Access 2016 Bible (in print), but I decided to go with the Kindle version for 2019. If you already have the 2016 Bible, the 2019 edition is so close that you don't need it, but it has a couple of advantages that made it worth it for me. Access 2019 has just a slightly different interface, and if you're nitpicky like me the 2019 version covers that. Most importantly though, the Kindle version is so much more convenient. The 2016 print copy is over 1100 pages and is a pain to carry around. The Kindle version is obviously more portable, and also has the advantage of allowing you to easily search and notate. It's a comprehensive tutorial that takes you from beginner to intermediate level user, and also serves as good reference material.

I used Access for 10 years and with it keep track of 360+ college students; however, after retiring in 2016 I became "rusty" using Access. I has charged by my fellow class members with keeping a database of our 1961 HS class. I purchased the Access Bible and quickly got back up to speed. If you are a serious Access user you need this "Bible!"

I've used MS Access since version 1.0. It arrived on about 15 3.5" diskettes. I am a contract programmer/analyst and have worked with a wide variety of MS Access and SQL Server applications. This appears to be an excellent book, though I haven't had it for very long. While it starts at a beginner level, it also includes enough detail for more advanced developers. So far, I am very pleased with this book. If my opinion changes as I read more of the book, I intend to update this review.

Very readable book with lots and lots of details. I am a beginner and it is at the right level for me. My only complaint is that the sample files that the book says are available on line are corrupted and unusable. I complained to Wiley but so far have not gotten a response. Wiley eventually got back to me and resolved the problem I was having with downloading the example files. Therefore I am upgrading my rating from 3 to 5.

Written for novice thru advanced users. First chapters were a 'rehash' of what I already know but the layout allows to move to more advanced areas if you need to.

I'm new to Access, but very experienced with Word and Excel. Easily understood. The examples in the book are available online, well done. Perhaps adding a few charts explaining all the properties, and functions available would add to the value of the book as a reference.
