I have a back problem and the base of these things is so heavy it had crushed the styrofoam surroundings inside of the box and when I opened this light, all those little white beads went all over my dining room floor. I have a back problem and literally was unable to pick up the base to put it together. I had to wait for someone to help me. The assembly was very easy, but took two of us because the base was like lead. Now that being said, the light is 10X brighter than my old one that gave up the ghost. The magnifier was much greater than on my old one. It is way easier to sew by and thread a needle with. It sits very steady on my hardwood floor in the den and has never tipped over. Probably not so great on a thick pile rug, but that's not my problem. If I were going to improve this lamp at all, I'd have a 3 click switch. OFF, ON a little bit for just a little bit of light to maybe read by late at night, and full on for sewing and working on several documents at once on a lap board. That's the only improvement I could think of because it is almost perfect. Very heavy and sturdy. Much more than I even imagined. Won't fall over while you are using it like my old one. Oh and the light swivels nicely. You can aim your light at the wall. My old one wouldn't do that. If you are looking for some very bright light to aid you in sewing on your machine, this would be excellent since it can be directed where desired and is quite bright.

Don’t know how I embroidered all these years without it. I was concerned as it said “frequently returned” but it is a sturdy lamp! Base is heavy. Perfect size for my recliner I sew in. The height is somewhat adjustable. Bends perfectly for my lap frames. Good light, good magnification. I got the higher magnification one. Love it!

I was reluctant to spend $100, but it turns out to be the best investment I have made this year. I was struggling with tired eyes and blurred/poor vision when doing cross-stitching and beading after short periods of time. I was at the point where my eyes were be sorely strained after 1 hr. and I was losing the joy of crafting. I thought my eyesight was deteriorating and I needed new glasses. This light/magnifier is wonderful. I can now work on my projects for 4-6 hrs a day without any eye strain, in complete comfort, wearing my reading glasses. It's really quite amazing. PROS: 1. Easy to assemble. Arrives very well packaged. 2. The light is a nice bright, white(not yellow) showing the true colors of your work and never, ever gets hot. (even after being on for 6+ hrs) 3. The magnifying area is nice and large, so I can work with my hands, arms and neck in a natural and comfortable position. I dont have to adjust my body position to the magnifier, which is quite wonderful. 4. The magnifier is clear and excellent quality glass. No distortion. The 7X magnification is perfect. I can see a large area of my work in beautiful detail. If I need more magnification, I simply pull the head a tad closer. Easy to clean with a soft cloth. 5. The magnifier head articulates in all directions. Up/Down, Left/Right and spins 360 degrees. I particularly like that once I have it at a comfortable height, if I adjust my position in my chair, I can simply tip the magnifier a smidge to the correct angle and continue working. It always stays put in the exact position I set it to. 6. Easy to adjust the flex-arm and height. Easy to swivel the head is very tiny adjustments. 7. The flex-arm is plenty long enough to position comfortably over my La-Z-Boy recliner. 8. Base is well weighted, so as long as you position the magnifier head directly over the base, this lamp is very stable and will not tip over. CONS: 1. You do have to make sure the magnifier head is aligned horizontally above the base to prevent this from tipping over. 2. Not a real CON, but I do wish the cord was longer. I did have to buy an extension cord 3. You do need to use two hands to grip the lower pole to move this into position by lifting gently and sliding it across the floor/rug. The weighted base is heavy and you have to be careful not to pull the pole out of the base when moving it.

Light has a very heavy base for extra stability, bright light and good viewing area. Great for counted cross stitch and other needlework. My light arrived promptly but was missing the power cord adapter. Customer service for Brightech was very helpful and sent out the appropriate cord. Other than having to wait for the power cord, I am very satisfied with the light. It was easy to assemble, no issues with the parts quality, and magnification provided is just what I needed.

This lamp is absolutely awesome for crochet projects. My vision started acting up just as I was embarking on Christmas project presents that involved black yarn. Yikes! I almost gave them up, but then I bought this, and it is like the sun has just come out! I can honestly say that this was my very best purchase this year. Everything is so clear, and nothing like what you get with the cheap plastic magnifiers which I tried first. My advice -- forget trying to save money here. Get the best light and the best magnifier you can get -- this one. You will be happy you did.

To the sellers of the Brightech LightView Pro LED Magnifying Floor Lamp: I purchased the lamp for my 97 year old mother who is in assisted living. Her eyesight is failing, and she has had problems reading. I have tried a number of hand-held magnifying glasses, but with the arthritis in her fingers and the difficulty of holding a book and a magnifying glass at the same time, she despaired of being able to read again. She is one of the most alert of the clients at her assisted living facility so this has been depressing for her. She has also had to all but give up on reading email on the computer because of her vision problems. So the other day I presented her with the Brightech lamp. We set it up beside her couch near her computer. The lamp can be swung over the couch for reading or moved to the front of her computer screen. Once we got it set up, we gave it a try. I only wish you could have been there to see the expression on her face and hear the joy in her voice. We were both amazed. The lamp performed exactly as promised, and my Mom is able to read books again as well as read her computer screen. She has expressed her delight to me every day since the purchase. Finally, she has been given back the ability to read and continue exploring the world through books and the internet. Oh my, you have no idea how happy she this has made her. It's also a burden off me because I felt so sorry for her. I was working with a lawyer yesterday who recently hired a vision impaired associate. I told him about the lamp, and he is going to purchase one for his associate to further accommodate her vision challenges. So you see, the product sells itself. The lamp is well-constructed, sturdy, and easy to set-up. You can tell it's made from quality materials, and the light is magnificently bright. It's just a wonderful lamp. The price is affordable and well worth it. So thank-you so much for designing and manufacturing this great product. You should sleep with a smile on your face tonight because you have given vision and renewed hope and joy to a lady approaching her 100th year of life. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Defective! I have one and wanted another for the other chair( mine) so found it online and ordered here. When it came in, wiring into the magnifying lighted part were not well protected when the light is manipulated in different positions. Ok, that is issue with design that CAN cause problems but I have had the first owned one for about ten years now with no problems of that kind, just replaced the power cord a few years back on Amazon. Now, onto my complaint and big problem I have today. I was unboxing that lamp and was wondering why on Earth it was in 3, yes 3 boxes? Well, getting into the original one became clear that it had been opened. So I was on notice that I needed to make sure everything was in there. I did, it did. Ok, going onto the return process! Easy? Yes, fast? Yes. But not a breathing thing human being to be had for two very minor questions that I still had to ask! Lovely. Apparently, it was an important question or two because the very next day after UPS picked up the lamp, at 8:30 A:M, Amazon DELIVERED IT RIGHT BACK TO ME AND POSTED ONTO MY ACCOUNT SAYING THAT THIS ORDER WAS EXCHANGED! Yes, I wanted an exchange, I really like the first lamp we bought about 10 or so years ago. Kinda waned to make the same the same type of purchase you know? We will have to wait until I am able to get around better and just shop the nearby stores for something that will work For me.

Initial impression is that it is excellent and well-made. My only concern is that the glass needs regular cleaning, but my glasses always do. Overall, I'm delighted and have found that the magnifying glass and light really help me see what I'm doing.
