BRILLIANT, STUNNING RESULTS FROM THIS KIT!
I used this product in 2013 and loved the results so much, I bought more kits to keep on hand. Today, I am ordering two more kits so I have lots of the gold finish and can both intensify the colors with extra dye, plus create different shades. I used a small paintbrush from the local hobby/arts/crafts store to add the gold. The eggs were not warm when I did this. It does take a long time for them to dry, and I definitely had to add a second coat or fill in places that didn't quite get covered. With lots of patience, attention to detail and careful handling, the results can be gorgeous. I was more than pleased with the results. Your results will depend on how much time you're willing to spend. This picture is from 2013. I used ONLY what was provided in the kit and placed the painted eggs on tightly crumpled heavy duty aluminum foil to dry. If the tiny marks on the eggs where they rest on the foil bothers you, touch it up!

Prettiest eggs we’ve dyed
Love this! Caution-the eggs do get a bit slippery when you’re trying to add the gold coating. However, this made the prettiest eggs we’ve ever dyed. I’d accidentally bought brown eggs, too, so I was thrilled the dye was intense enough to show!

Do not buy!
I did not get everything claimed by the description. I did not gey enough gold and only 2 sponges. How do you use 2 colors with 2 sponges. Unfortunately I didn't realize this until I started using it and ran out of everything after only getting 6 eggs done halfway. It is impossible to do the entire egg using the 6 egg trays supplied. I am going to try to get a refund but not sure I will since I used it.

Those other reviews are not accurate
I bought this product and then read the reviews so I was very concerned about how they would turn out. Because of so many bad stories, I skimped on the paint so much that I ended up doing another half dozen eggs. The instructions say to mix the gold paint with the colors and it works just great. I did find a 1 inch brush that I used and I agree that the little brushes that came with the kit were too small. However, the dye does not smell at all. There is plenty of color to do a dozen awesome eggs and if you really want perfect like the picture on the box, do one side and let them dry completely and then do the other side. They look great, in fact they look just like the box. I did a dozen white eggs and then ended up doing some more brown eggs, to my surprise the brown eggs looked better and more like the box. I am still confused by why all those other reviewers had problems, it is very simple and the plastic trays and everything are exactly like every other egg dye kit I've ever seen. They rarely look as good as the photo, especially if children do them. Frankly I really don't need my eggs to look perfect, I am more concerned with a fun project and some festive looking eggs. This kit worked perfectly for what I wanted, I will buy these again.

It worked!
After so many bad reviews, I thought I'd share this. We had absolutely no problem putting gold on the eggs. It looks really nice. We had extra gold paint left after coloring 24 eggs. If we put another layer they'd look even better, but 4 year old got a bit tired of it. Just make sure you follow instructions: the eggs need to be warm and dry for this to work well.

Great look, poor yield.
This product suggests that it colors 24 eggs. I was very lucky to color 6 (six) eggs. The dye packets seem to be very stingy. It worked for six eggs, as I said, but you won't get much more than that.

Tricky, requires patience, not kid-friendly
It works, sort of, but it's not for kids. I agree, the picture is quite misleading. The kit's messy and it takes a lot of patience. The gold glaze is very runny and must be applied in many THIN coats. There's also not much of it there, I only did one golden egg and the rest just got a metallic shimmer after traditional coloring. Patting gently (don't rub) with a paper towel between gold coats gets rid of the air bubbles. I accentuated the shine with acrylic gloss spray and am overall happy with the results after adding some extra shiny bits on my own. But for a family with wee ones, this would be an absolute nightmare. Only get this kit if you're patient, an adult, you have steady hands, and you don't mind taking six hours or so to do a dozen eggs. (The rhinestone accents are an after-market addition, they're not part of the kit. And if you want the super metallic shiny look, some sort of glossy spray is 100% necessary, otherwise the glaze rubs off. I recommend Mod Podge, it didn't crackle or blister the glaze at all.)

This product is AMAZING and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND
This product was AMAZING! The materials created the most beautiful eggs I have ever seen and I was so proud of how they turned out. Mine kinda looked like exotic eggs you’d find in a fancy shop for sale. Highly recommend! I wish I could add a photo to show you all.

Absolutely terrible. The gold barely stuck to ten egg. We tried one and then threw out the rest of the kit
