Coach Cotter runs down the basics.
If you're looking for a good book on basics, this is it. Any experienced athlete will tell you the secret to success is to master the basics. As a coach, I'm always concerned when potentially great athletes rush or ignore the basics. In my book, we failed; when we can't teach reverence for the game/basics. My old football coach would say, "The games we play makes us strong." He was, of course, correct. Many old coaches (like me ) really like what works and works quick. The kettle bell is guaranteed to make you strong. Coach Cotter's book will get on it. Period. Any questions ? Jim Merlin.

outstanding modern fitness and KB book by outstanding coach
" Kettlebell Training by Steve Cotter is one outstanding book by an outstanding coach. Not only do we get excellent instructions in kettlebell basic, intermediate and advanced kettlebell exercises, but we get the best and clearest introduction to modern fitness, HIIT training, I have read. Cotter's discussion of HIIT, tabata, workouts is clear and makes what has been a cloudy issue easy to understand. For the individual just starting training this is a clear guide as to how to proceed. For the old timer, this is a clear and simple discussion of modern fitness principles, many quite new and rather radical - read very different -in the last few years. Also included are beginner, intermediate, advanced suggested programs in weight loss, muscular strength, and strength and endurance programs including suggested warmups, main program, and cool down directions. There are 15 sports specific guidelines for an amazing variety of sports. We also get specific approaches to creating your own workouts with excellent guidelines and principles well laid out.The entire book is well and clearly written. The pictures are well done and show the essentials of the exercises.Among fitness books, this is a tour de force, a landmark, destined to be a classic book, accessible to the beginner, but with a wealth of knowledge on modern fitness for the experienced individual.

Enhanced Edition is a must have...
Own both editions of this book... the enhanced edition of this book which has Mr. Cotter demonstrating each technique through short video demonstrations is much better. His technique is flawless... and as it goes... a picture is worth ten thousand words.

The best kettlebell book I've read
The best kettlebell book I've read. Not sure if I agree with all the breathing patterns given, because in Alex Hutchinson's "Which Comes First, Cardio or Weights?--Fitness Myths, Training Truths, and Other Surprising Discoveries from the Science of Exercise" the research suggests that consciously controlling your breath may actually hinder your performance. Everything else is great in the book!

The PhD of Kettle Bells.
The topic is fully covered in depth. If you are new to kettle bells, this book may not be a good introduction. However, if you have experience this book will help advance further.

The best for the best type of life-long functional workout.
The author did a great job explaining the basics on kettlebells, from the basics to the most advance. He is one of the best kettlebell/fitness instructors in the world, which is demonstrated in this work.

Good solid book on Kettlebell Training
I am new to kettlebell training and wanted a book to give me the basics and also be useful as I advance in my traininig. This book met those goals for me. I like the color photos of the exercises and the basic information of how to choose a kettlebell and the foundation exercises. The sample workouts and more advanced exercises I read through and will incorporate into my training as I progress. For the money I thought the book was very good for the beginner to start with. One note is that some of the exercises are just hard to describe with words and photos. I did go on-line and search for videos of some of the more complex exercises to see how it is done. Not a negative on the book at all but looking at the videos did help.

Old fashioned
The book cover looks like this is an up to date publication, not being able to see more pages before you buy, disguises the bland old fashioned black and white content. My reason for buying this was to see clear images explaining the exercises throughout the majority of the book which is not the case.

A very good book from a very well respected author and practitioner
A very good book from a very well respected author and practitioner. My only gripe is the lack of photos throughout the book to demonstrate the different stages of each exercise. Very good.

A posséder
