Great all in one burger system
I have have this panel for a couple of month and so far it is working like a champ. My set up of this panel is having it be my primary alarm/burger system and a secondary to the home automation. My primary home automation system is Vera-Lite which works like a champ for a couple of years now.The reason kept the Vera-Lite as my primary home automation system is because you can download any app (free or charge) and it will work perfectly. The second reason is; the honeywell zwave card seems to have a delay on turn on or off a light. The third reason, does not support a couple of the switches, doors, and motion detectors (lums, temperature, etc). I currently do not have a heat/ac interacting with the home automation system yet, but it's the next project I have. Now regarding this system: I have 4 surface window contact, 3 flush door contact, 3 Motion Detectors, and 3 Key fobs, 1 zwave card, 1 GSM card. The system set was easy and fast. The programming was again easy. And setting up with the monitoring station was a little more involved since they need to program stuff in it be with their help, it was easy. To date we have not have false alarm and when we triggered the alarm by accident, well, my anyone out side heard the sounder (Our neighbor are close and the panel if close to the front door too).I'm using total connect for remote access to the panel and the app on the iphone is user friendly. It's very simple and does not involved to much to arm or disarm the panel. Also, the event shows up on the app which gives you an idea of who disarm or arm the system. It also give access to bypass a detectors, contact, etc.The panel touch screen is simple and great. My parent who are not into technology are able to use this panel without a problem. Of course I'm talking about disarming and arming the system. But still, the touch screen make it easy to access all the menus. The size of this panel is a little big then the normal button panel, but the presentation of the panel is nice. People think it's a thermostat, since I have next to a Tran XL900 and when people ask, well I tell them it's a thermostat, lol.The only reason I gave this a 4 star, was the fact that I wanted this to control my primary controller for the home automation and I don't mind having the Vera-Lite. Also, note that this does have a limitation on how many zwave nodes it can support.

Perfect for the DIY'er!!
This was a great upgrade. I had an existing wired alarm system and had to get the Honeywell 5800C2W Hardwired to 5800 Wireless Converter to go with it. This thing tied into the old wired system with the only issues being that I couldn't use the wired smoke detector and siren. Not a big loss since I use the Nest Protects for my smoke and CO2 protection and the siren built into this unit is pretty loud. I can always buy the wireless ones if I want them later. If your looking for an upgrade for your alarm system I can't think of an easier way to go. I added the Honeywell L5100-ZWAVE - Z-Wave Control Communication Module, Honeywell L5100-WIFI - L5100 Wifi Module for Lynx Touch 5100, and Honeywell Ademco GSMVLP5-4G Internal GSM Radio w/ Two-Way Voice Support to it which were all very simple plug and play devices.I do have to pay for monthly monitoring with this unit since I wanted to take advantage of the remote control functions. For me that is okay though. I like the fact that I can check the status of my alarm anythime without being tied into a service contract with anyone. If you don't need the remote functions, you can always use the app that works on wifi without paying a monitoring service.I also like the home automation functions on this pad. I have connected door locks, light switches, and outlets to it without any problems. Alarmgrid has lots of good videos on youtube for DIY'ers that will make installation go alot easier.

Awesome Alarm
This this does it all. I got the z-wave module and the wi-fi module plugins and I don't think there is any other alarm system in this price range that can even come close to the functionality. You can connect to a wireless network so that it doesn't matter if crooks cut your phone line, and with the z-wave module you can control lights, electrical outlets, door locks, monitor flood/water sensors, sprinkler systems and make schedules for all of the above so that it can look like there is some one home at all times. Heck it even tells you the weather. I also programmed mine so that I know which door is being opened. For example you can program it to say "Kitchen Door", "Back Door", "Front Door" ect. There are a good number of programmed words that has a recorded voice to go along, I thought this was really cool.I was able to install the system by myself after a few hours of reading the manual. We have a third party monitory service that we really like since its only about $15 a month (not the typical $45 - $55 for the number of sensors and upgrades we have). Basically the alarm system paid for itself in about 10 months.

Excellent system. Easy installation. Great features.
I'm highly impressed with this system. I bought it with the GSM board, and now my monitoring is completely wireless. I can arm, disarm and check the event log on my smartphone. The only downside is that the sensors are expensive, especially the slimline door and window sensors, which I nevertheless highly recommend. The documentation provided is adequate but not complete. However, there's lots of good support available on the web.

Great System, but Missing Power Cord / Battery and Limited WiFi Compatibility
The L5100 is great system, with tons of sensors and accessories available and a very straightforward installation. If you are using wifi module, one complaint is the lack of compatibility with routers. If you look around, you can find the very short list of Honeywell-tested routers that work. It states that some not on the list may work, but mine (Belkin Surf N300) was not one - although my android hotspot connected successfully, so perhaps its just a crappy router. I will need to replace this to get monitoring/email alerts. Also keep in mind that "control panel only" means exactly that. I didn't realize a power cord/battery wouldn't be included, so this was added cost/time to get up and going.
