Scholastic Success With Reading Comprehension: Grade 1 Workbook Review: A wonderful comprehension book - I home school my children and use this for my 5&7 year olds(Grade K&2). My 5 year old is an advanced reader and my 7 year old struggles with reading. I had been searching for quite some time for a good comprehension book that may work for both of them. It makes clear of the concept it is teaching (such as "real vs. make-believe" or "sequencing") and contains a few worksheets for each concept so you can be sure your child has practice with each idea. This book is filled with fun stories and activities and would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking to supplement into daily reading activities. My kids both love doing these worksheets. I will be sure to continue with this series as they get older! Review: Great for comprehension - Guess what we are on chapter 5 , it’s good for KG and first graders , my son has some struggles with comprehension , my plan is to finish this book in next 10 days ... great experience , easy to read and understand for kids ... stories are becoming complex as we go ahead

Good book, good price
Very simple stories. Good for kindergarten or 1st grade. For a more advanced reader, you may want to look for something else. I do like the variety of topics read about and the topics covered in the comprehension. I do enjoy other reading comprehension books better, but for a quick assignment, these are great for the price. I used to teach public school and now I homeschool 5 kids, so I've seen a lot of good and bad comprehension books. I would give this about a 7 out of 10.

Great value!
Purchased this as a supplement for our language arts homeschool curriculum which was lacking reading comprehension. I have been pleasantly surprised by this! The quality for the price is great. It sneaks a lot of other learning in through the stories (not all, but some). It also uses several different modalities which keeps things interesting - circling, writing, fill-in the blank, there is even cutting and pasting. It truly is a great find for such a reasonable price and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone. This would also be great for summer!

Great for summer bridge or supplemental wor.
I have been using this with my grandson who will be in first grade as a summer bridge activity. Good comprehension work with the ability to extend the lesson with other activities.

So great! I don't have a book to teach the ...
So great! I don't have a book to teach the concepts of "main idea" and "details of the story" from, but this week has been really cool to sit with my daughter and explain the difference. The pages are laid out and ordered in a way that it's like taking a journey through the way a story is made. Once were done with this, we'll practice writing our own story, implementing these concepts. Excited for her.

Great way to introduce concepts
This book has been great on keeping my kid up to speed in school. We work ahead so that my kid can see the concepts before in class. Has really helped as they can balk at things they don't understand. We work through that roadblock at home.

Pour découvrir l'anglais en primaire (ou plus âgé en grand débutant), très bons petits cahiers. Le vocabulaire et les exercices sont bien ciblés.
