LG Electronics BH16NS40 16X Blu-ray/DVD/CD Multi Compatible Internal SATA Rewriter Drive, BDXL, M-DISC Support, Black, with PowerDVD SW

Review for BH16NS40 purchased/shipped from Amazon (not third-party package) This model came as a complete package from LG and contained: Optical Drive SATA 3 Cable PC-SATA Power Adapter Cable (3" in length) 4 - 3mm Screws for Mounting CyberLink Software Installed the drive into a Dell OptiPlex 9020 in the 2nd slot, straight-forward install. Dell already had a SATA power connection, then connected the supplied SATA cable from drive to motherboard. Powered up Dell and Win7Prox64 automatically loaded a standard Windows driver, no LG driver was needed. Ran a CD and DVD write/verify/read tests and it worked perfectly and quietly, much quieter than the Dell supplied Matsushita DVD burner in slot 1. Installed CyberLink Software consisting of: CyberLink PowerDVD 10.0.5507.52 (Player ) CyberLink Power2Go 7.0.0.3328 (Disc Burner ) CyberLink PowerProducer 5.5.3.5225 (Video Production ) CyberLink PowerBackup 2.50.9729a (Data/File Backup ) CyberLink MediaShow 6.0.5019 (Photo/Video Slideshow ) CyberLink LabelPrint 2.5.5415 (Disc Label Creator ) CyberLink MediaEspresso 6.5.3807_46074 (Video Format DownConvert) Watched Madagascar DVD with PowerDVD, worked perfectly and drive is very quiet.... Burned 3 different BD-R SingleLayer (25G) with verify and all worked perfectly, no failures. Using Verbatim media, "Verbatim 25 GB 6x Blu-ray Single Layer Recordable Disc BD-R, 25-Disc Spindle" (Amazon) Burned 1 BD-R DoubleLayer (50G) with verify and worked perfectly, no failure. Using Verbatim media, "Verbatim 50 GB 6x Blu-ray Double Layer Recordable Disc BD-R DL, 3-Disc" (Amazon) Not a heavy user so I can't comment on longevity...

Very easy to install and easy to use. I chose not to install the CyberLink Software, as it is simply trial software and very expensive to purchase full licenses. I also have had bad experiences in the past with Cyberlink. The drive, however, is amazing. Very fast, easy to use, and very few coasters. However, one point of note: For some reason, Memorex Blu Ray BD-R's do not work well with this drive and produce about a 50% failure rate. I didn't know if it was the drive or the discs, so I purchased some much cheaper, Optical Quantum discs and have not had a failure yet. So, I believe it was the media in this case!

Drive seems to work ok, but there's just one problem... The included "Super Multi Blue Install Disc" was damaged when I opened the box. There's a scratch through the surface of the disk rendering it unusable. I've tried to contact LG about a replacement disk, but haven't received a response in two weeks. This is really unfortunate.

This review is for the BH16NS40. I have 4 of these now, and they all perform VERY well. I won't be around to test the 1kYR life of the archival M-Discs I've burned with it, but after just a few years, so far so good! Contrast this to the BH12LS38 that I have in one machine; it works just fine as a reader, but produces 50% coasters for most burns (and I've tried several types of burning software, not just the one that came with it). BTW, the photo shown in the listing is incorrect.

OK got one from GIMIKA. Came in an open box when the order was supposed to be new. Printed on box and also seen in LG web page/product manual that BH series comes bundle with: 1- super multi blue install disc (and bundle software needed to burn with this unit) that's why I ordered this one an not the cheaper WH16 series; 2- manual; 3- serial ata cable (power/data); 4- mounting screws. None of the list was in the box!!!! Also I will copy exactly what's under this list: "*Compatibility problem in writing & reading may occur if you use the unbundled softwares." It have the scratches of a pulled unit, I could not find any identification; part or serial number that can tell me what drive is that!!! The WEIRDEST thing is that BIOS and windows 7 recognize it as an ASUS 12B1ST a1.00 !!!!!??????!!!!!! So, someone put an older ASUS unit and left the LG cover on it? The ASUS BW12B1ST does not have M-DISC support and BDXL compatibility and is an 12X drive.

This is a solid, reliable drive as far as Blu-Ray/DVD Burners go. Good price, easy to install and records at good speeds. LG makes good drives that are reliable and reasonably priced, which is why I've been using them for years.

Does everything as stated. Playback, read/ write, speed, you name it.

Seamlessly installed for windows 10, I used Cyberlink Power DVD Ultra 19 to watch movies in blue ray format. I have an extensive DVD, blue ray collection, and this drive seems to work well so far. I have played a few blueray movies which I was most concerned with; admittedly I have only had this drive for a few days, but I am happy with it.

Von Haus aus kann dieses Laufwerk keine UHD BlueRays lesen. Mit ein bisschen tinkering kann man es allerdings dennoch davon überzeugen. Es ist ein sehr leises Laufwerk, auch suchgeräusche sind hier Recht leise. Macht was es soll, got what I paid for.

Sehr leises Gerät; sehr gute Brennleistung und Wiedergabe von Selbstgebrannten. Preis o.k. Immer wieder!
