This book is a gap filler to those who want to understand symbology of the ancients, the connections to Masons and the worlds major religions. The book may be a bit easy to get lost in the discussions of the gods and goddesses of ancient cultures. That merely illustrates our poor educatioal system in the USA, not the book. This book has solved several ancient mysteries for me. I do not know the current status or intents of current Masons. It's pretty obvious after reading is book that at one time there were men of noble thinking and training who did believe in brotherhood, giving assistance to the poor, widows, and children and believed that their actions should be for the wellbeing and benefit of the mass of humanity. This is refreshing considering the melo drama and pychopathy of today's leaders in business and government intentions of building global government by Corporate Kings.

Not an easy read, but it does give insight into a world different than mine.. I'd recommend it for anyone who wants to see how those who wish to "control" the world think.. There are many subtleties hidden in the work, but much like mining for ore, once obtained, it's well worth the effort. It's also a very long work, so it takes some time to get through it.

To say I read the whole book would be a lie, as it takes quite a while to get through a single paragraph, when one tries to read with comprehension. Albert Pike is one of the grandest minds produced in our country. This work which is compiled of dissertations on the degrees (1-3) of Freemasonry (Blue Lodge) and the subsequent following degrees (4-32) of the Scottish Rite as to the meaning behind the ritual.Some of the statements may seem antiquated, however the Truths expressed and implied are eternal. It is best for me to read this book in an environment without distractions, to enable me to focus, concentrate, and understand what is being said.

It is a great and inspiring work. It thus reveals a true religion and free government. Upon purchase, I intended to just grap the basic concepts because of the challenges i had while reading the sample. But on proceeding with the reading, I found out the work was not as i thought. The main concepts have been repeated in all its illustrations which has ease my understanding. I highly recommend Mr.Pike's work for anyone aspiring to be a free citizen and a true Manson.

Greeting Brothers, or curious readers. Brother Pike can be a bit obtuse inchis writing style. There is more you can read, a lot more. Some if which is junk. However the only two groups of people interested in this is Masons and ther fsmies and people against the Mondonic order.Pike did a great job writting about the different degrees. But if you not in the lodge you realky won't understand

I previously had a hard cover copy that I gave away. I would not try to read the entire thing, but would use it to read specific passages that relate to something that I am working on -- sort of like a reference.This is a well known work on Masonic philosophy written by someone who was prominent in the organization. A copy was given to every member of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Southern Jurisdiction for several decades. Probably most never read more than a few pages. Some passages are misunderstood and quoted my individuals who are anti-Masonic.

Not quite through with this book. I just got it actually, not even quite 20% into it yet. I have the feeling I will be reading it more than twice. And so far, it is difficult reading this book and because of sentence structure or unfamiliar words or complex ideas and subjects, but for simple fact that I know that Mr. Pike is talking about something deeper and that these words and ideas laid out in this book are deeper than they appear. And it kills me that I may never get know what that deeper meanings are.

A complete, full text version of a classic book, in the Kindle format - which I found very practical and good to read. Great Albert Pike, his wise words will never be forgotten by those who care to listen. A truly must for all serious masons and/or students of mysticism, esotericism or spirituality. This is that kind of book that really changes yourself and all the way you see life and your most deep values and beliefs. A book to read slowly and to meditate in each paragraph. Highly recommended.
