Blue Sea Systems 5251 MIDI Fuse 40A

Fit my 2005 S500. My dad connected a jumper back backwards and blew this fuse. It's under the front passenger carpet and fixed my issue perfectly

I have degrees and certifications in electronics, so I'm a little fussy about electrical safety and functionality, I really like these fuses because of tab connections, and for visible indication of blown fuse. With most of the consumer-grade high-current low-voltage fuses, the weakest part of the system is the fuse holder. Usually they are made of cheap plastic, often times with undersized wire, and often times do not make a reliable low-resistance connection to the fuse. All of these things add up to a risk of over-heating, and plastic melting, or worse. The tabs on these fuses make for reliable connections, which is what you want, especially if there are fathoms of cold water below your boat. I recently rebuilt the DC power distribution system in our older camp trailer that we inherited. The factory installed fuses were a mess. They were hard to access, hard to tell if they were blown, and hard to remove/replace. I took them all out and replaced them all with these Blue Sea fuses. Because the factory fuse blocks for these Blue Sea fuses are kind of expensive and don’t have hold enough fuses for my need, and because I enjoy making my own stuff that is better than stuff made in a Chinese factory, I made my own fuse block, which was fairly easy because the tabs on these fuses allow them to be screwed securely to an aluminum buss-bar. My fuse block is a collection of 1/2" thick aluminum blocks that are drilled and tapped for 10-24 screws for the tabs on these fuses, and for ring terminals on the ends of interconnection wires. The aluminum blocks and the buss bar are mounted on a 3/4 inch thick oak board. I now have rock solid, low-resistance fuse connections that I'm sure will perform well for many years. I'm quite happy with these fuses. They are reasonably priced and of good quality.

My local parts stores did not know what is was looking for, but found these fast have had it installed for a few months, gone on road trips no issues work great easy to install took like 5 mins to get tools remove and replace, good quality, came with spares shipped out fast

The product description says that you are getting one fuse for $11.46, but you actually get 2 fuses in the exact same package I receive from my July 30, 2022 order of this product for $9.35. $2.11 inflation over the last 3 years I can live with. I give this fuse a five star rating because it worked as intended and saved the rest of my 2019 sprinter electrical system when I accidently shorted out the power input supply to my DC-DC charger. I simply hunted down the 2nd fuse in my original purchase and replaced the blown one. The current purchase is my new reserve. Again, identical packaging and fuses, and made in Italy, as was my original purchase.

I hope to never learn how well it works. It's Blue Sea, prob from LittleFuse, so good quality. Not much to review.

I bought five of these based on the item description of containing 1 piece, there are actually 2 per package. I want some spares, just not that many.

are inexpensive insurance. These are not the least expensive MIDI fuses on the market, but they are a high-quality fuse. Look for public information like data sheets, and certifications earned vs. "meets requirements of...". A cheap fuse that doesn't work right can result in expensive damage, but you probably knew that.

Could not find this in any parts store and even the dealer did not have in stock. Also a fraction of the price. Have a spare incase I would ever need one. Shipped fast and was exactly as described.

Good price, installed on my vehicle over 6 months now and still working.

This was a replacement for a blown fuse in my Green Works lawnmower battery: 40v 4ah. You need a good soldering tool to get the old one out, but the new one is in and the battery is working fine! No idea why the fuse went on the first place!?
