So good
These are awfully good and $$. I tried subbing navy beans for them in a recipe and there was no comparison. Pamela Salzman has a great way to prepare these on her website. I had no luck finding these beans in a store. Love them. Cringe at the price but will probably repurchase This is my second review and I’m on my third shipment of these beans. I’m obsessed with them. There is definitely some mixed reviews on these which I don’t quite understand. I soaked about two cups of thes for about 12 hours (yes the skins do fall off) covers them with water plus a couple more inches and boiled them alone for about 45 min then added bay, thyme, onion, garlic, salt, pepper, one carrot and a dried hot pepper. My experience is that beans don’t cook as well if they are seasoned at the beginning. I like them on a salad with an olive oil dressing, Parmesan, avocado whatetever They have a slightly sweet taste and a great texture.

Obsessed. Delicious and great for snacking.
I discovered the Greek gigante beans from the Whole Foods salad bar, and became determined to replicate them. I soak them overnight with salt to prevent breaking, and cook in the slow cooker on low for 7 hours. Add some salt and olive oil, and voila. They are AMAZING. Great for snacking on, because they're big enough and sturdy enough to be fingerfood. I can't stop eating these. They a bit pricey as far as dried beans go, but WAY LESS expensive that buying them prepared from Whole Foods.

Nice Bean's!!!!
These beans are great!! they were very creamy in the inside and they cooked evenly within a timely fashion, 3 to 4 hours on low simmer so the beans will hold their shape and look and taste beautiful.

Junk
If you are considering ordering these beans I would suggest you try another vendor or brand. They arrived and most outer membranes were broken, beans chipped. I won't bother cooking them as they will turn to mush during cooking, straight to the trash they go. To top it all off they expire 6/22/22 so they are not really fresh at all. Totally disgusted and no able to get a refund. I normally don't do reviews unless the item is outstanding or the item is disgusting. This order fell under the disgusting category.

Great beans
We don't eat white potatoes anymore and this gigante bean is a fine substitute in Nicoise Salad with Ella's spectacular haricot vert from the Farmer's Market as the main characters of the dish. When the beans appear the gigantes do too. I do use them for other things but am frugal only because they so hard to find. The texture of the bean is creamy and full flavored. Must for Greek and some Italian dishes.,

Better than I expected
Better than I expected, unique sweet flavor. Texture is a lot like a potato. Does require a long soak and cooking time - but worth it. *Planted one just to see if they were viable, and it germinated pretty quickly. Bonus!

DO YOU LOVE GIGANTE...
{GREEK} BEANS? BE PREPARED TO WAIT AND WAIT AND WAIT SOME MORE. OBVIOUSLY I WANTED THESE "SPECIAL" BEANS SO MUCH I WAS WILLING TO FORK OVER A BIT MORE THAN TEN DOLLARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I SOAKED THEM FROM MID-AFTERNOON UNTIL THE NEXT DAY ...APPROXIMATELY TWENTY-FOUR HOURS. THAT APPARENTLY DID NOT DO THE TRICK. USUALLY OLD BEANS WILL TAKE FOREVER NO MATTER HOW LONG THE SOAK AND THE ULTIMATE COOKING. I EXAMINED THESE GIGANTES AND DECLARED THEY WERE FINE AND NOT OLD. I KNEW FROM PAST EXPERIENCE THESE WOULD TAKE MUCH PATIENCE. NOT THIS BLOODY LONG!!!!!!!! I HAVE SPENT MORE THAN TWO DAYS PREPARING THESE GIANT BEANS. FROM THE SOAKING TO THE EXTRAORDINARILY LOOOOOOOONG COOK TIME, THE END RESULT? I WISH I HAD NOT WASTED TEN DOLLARS TO PURCHASE...THIS HAS TAUGHT ME A GREAT LESSON: JUST BUY FREAKING LARGE LIMA BEANS!!!!! SO THERE, BEAN LOVERS. GUESS WHAT? EVEN AFTER COOKING THESE IN A SOUP, WHICH WAS ON THE STOVE FOR FOUR HOURS, SOME OF THE GIGANTES STILL RETAIN THEIR BITE. THIS FACTOR WOULD BE EXCELLENT HAD THEY BEEN PASTA. - THEY WERE A GIGANTE DISAPPOINTMENT. SAVE YOUR BUCKS FELLOW AMERICANS AND BUY LARGE LIMA BEANS. ANYONE CARE FOR A BIG BOWL OF GIGANTE SOUP?

Delicious meaty beans
These are delicious meaty beans. They're really hard to find right now period even though these had a few bad reviews, they turned out to be great. I just got two more bags yesterday and I'm cooking them now. I love gigante beans. Corona beans are also good but they're very hard to get right now.
