Great pack for day hikes and general-purpose use
Deuter hit this one out of the park. The pack holds a good deal of gear - perfect for a pretty demanding day hike (tried mine in the Rockies in CO and NM) or for an overnight...not really designed for longer multi-day treks in my opinion unless you've got ultralight gear or are a gear minimalist. The pack is comfortable to wear all day - the straps are adjustable and wide, and the waist belt helps keep the load centered and spread across your back. I stuffed a first aid kit, water, food, extra layers, binoculars, camera, etc for 3 kids plus me for a day hike. It has plenty of padding, but the frame doesn't hold the pack off of your back like some (ex: Osprey's AG packs), so you can get a little warmer wearing it in hot weather. I also tried it out for an 2-night work trip. I carried it no the plane with no problem. I suspect it might be a tad long for the official carry-on size, but it if it isn't over-stuffed, it doesn't look it. The pack fit under the seat on the plane, and was great to walk around the city - small enough to not look like I'd hiked in from out of town.Pros: Lightweight. 40L is plenty of capacity for day hikes. Room for a large water bladder. Built-in rain fly. Stretch pocket is great for stashing a rain jacket. Adjustable and comfortable. Main compartment zipper access is a nice feature when loading or unloading. Solid construction. Nice to have both top-load and front load flexibility.Cons: Could use an additional external pocket or two, tiny pocket on waist belt it pretty useless. Bottle holder pocket is kind of small and difficult to reach with the pack on - better to have the internal bladder installed. Note that this isn't designed to be a lockable pack. Would be nice if waist belt was either removable or stowable for use in those "off label" situations.

Well built, clever, comfortable and practical
I've had this bag for about 4 months now and can't say anything bad about it. I use it for personal and business travel and have received compliments from coworkers on both the style and practicality.I was specifically looking for something that was NOT a laptop backpack (since I've already got an awesome Timbuk2 Commander messenger bag for that purpose) that would hold about a week's worth of clothes and supplies for business trips. I was previously using a hard shell roller bag and I just prefer the convenience of a backpack when traveling at this point since I tend to travel on the lighter side. I have not yet used this bag for backpacking or hiking but plan to do so later this year when the U.S. Northeast thaws.Features I like about this bag:- it's basically one big pouch with a pull-string at the top and a cover. I highly dislike the trend towards multiple "main" compartments and specifically searched for a backpack with the single pouch + pull-string top configuration.- The front is zippered to allow for easy packing & unpacking and/or access to the bottom of the bag.- The hip belt can be stowed when not used. I like having the option for a hip belt - I use it for hiking and backpacking, but not business travel, and the ability to stow the hip belt makes this pack more versatile.- Well balanced and very comfortable.- Stretch side pocket with strap. Something that bothers me about previous backpacks I've had with side pockets is just how easily a bottle of water (or whiskey...) can fall out, for example if I lose my footing or put the pack down or if the pack is just too overloaded. The "bottle" pocket on this pack is deeper AND it has a clever pull-string to hold on to your whiskey!- Integrated (but removable) rain cover. I'm not that experienced a hiker or camper so I wouldn't have thought to look for a pack with this feature (I'm a garbage bag guy) but this just seems clever. Not only is it more sturdy and more stylish than a garbage bag, but it's a better fit around the pack. Plus, if you don't need it you can detach it and use the stow pocket (outside, bottom of the bag) for something you DO need.- There's a key clasp inside a zippered pocket on the top cover of the pack - it's the little things. When I park my car at the airport and get into the shuttle, I set the pack between my feet, unzip the top pocket, clip my car keys to the clasp, put my parking voucher in the pocket, and zip it back up. Similarly, when I'm in the shuttle on the way back to the parking lot, I can easily open the same top pocket to get everything. I also find myself using this pocket for phone chargers, snacks, even reading glasses or shades - things I need to get at frequently and easily. So far the quality of construction seems solid. I've taken roughly a dozen trips with combined car, train, subway, walking, and airline travel, and the pack looks brand new. I would definitely buy this pack again (if it ever wears out) and I highly recommend it to others looking for a similar type of backpack.

Excellent
A great backpack, excellent quality, good size for a day pack (especially if you need to pack for weather), many storage options. Some of my favorite things: the zipper at the bottom to access stuff that's buried without having to dig everything out; a very comfortable light-weight waist belt that can be stored away when not in use but is substantial enough when you do use it; very firm, arched back that allows airflow between the pack and your back; a narrow profile; tightening straps for the shoulders to pull the pack closer if you need it (not something I've found on day packs though pretty standard for larger backpacks). Very, very happy with this pack.

Just right for a day or short hikes
I walk and bike to and from work each day and transport my suit, lunch, and toiletries each way. Its comfortable and water resistant. There are an appropriate number if pockets and the shoulder straps are comfortable. I have the multi color blue/red combo. It's nice. Could also be used for camping or multi day trekking and hunting.Good pack.

Great Fit for a big guy
Appears to be exactly what I wanted good quality, ample room, and it fits well. This my second Deuter pack, I am 6' 6" and 270lbs it is hard to find a pack that fits right so that is the main reason I choose Deuter, it fits. However, because of my wife's health issues have not had the opportunity to use it.

Great Bag - Disappointing that the tag said "Made in Vietnam"
Love the bag and the extra features are wonderful and very well thought out. This bag will last me a very long time, it is extremely well made. Only disappointment was that the Description states that it is made in the USA while when I received the bag the tag clearly says "Made in Vietnam". Not a huge deal but I am a fan of supporting US made products.I deal with a company through work that has started using Deuter harnesses for their commercial backpack vacuums and the quality is really unmatched. Deuter has really perfected the weight distribution and breath-ability for us people who work up a sweat.

Atendeu a todas minhas expectativas.
Eu busquei uma mochila que fosse confortável, resistente e prática para viagens de até duas semanas, conseguindo levar tudo que eu preciso para esse tipo de viagem. Supriu todas as minhas expectativas. Consegui levar tudo que eu precisava e sobrou espaço.

Zaino Deuter trail 30
Zaino a mio parere molto comodo. Bella anche l'apertura sul fondo per prendere la cose posizionate in basso. L'unica cosa che non mi piace molto è che le tasche laterali non sono asimmetriche, una ha la zip e la trovo un po' scomoda. Comunque ottimo zaino, consigliato!
