Can I use a speed controller to vary the output of this submersible?

I had this question for the TM titanium series pumps. The sales people said you had to run them at the rated 50 hz or 60 hz. The engineer told me that the motor didn't care what speed you ran it. On the TM series pumps (which this is not) the only difference between the 50 hz pumps and the 60 hz pumps what the size of the impellor and the plug. The put a bigger diameter impellor on the 50 hz model to give you the same performance as the pump spinning at a 60 hz speed, although the 50 hz is probably the standard for most of the world. If you spin the pump slower, the performance will drop off dramatically, but the motor shouldn't over heat since it won't work nearly as hard at a lower speed / hz. Don't exceed 60 hz as this might tend to over heat it and draw extra current. Although if you don't care about early failure, give it a go. Use any single phase controller rated for the amperage, plus some start up surge. These are robust pumps, they won't care what speed you spin the motor. Resistance on the impellor drops off at lower RPM. Just make sure you vary the frequency, not the voltage. I don't believe these pumps have capacitive start and a centrifugal switch, so they should be fine running at a lower rpm.

Does this have a float or kicks on and off? Or does it runs continuously? Can I add a float switch?

This is a manual operation pump. A Tsurumi TS-302 float switch can be used with this model.

Pumps aren't really measured in PSI but how much ft/head they can lift water out and in gallons per minute. This model is rated up to 59’ shut off head and has a maximum gallons per minute of 82. The longer (taller) you need to move the water, the less gallons per minute you get. But if you have a short distance, you will get more output.
