A must have!
I have a dog and it took me awhile to figure out that a lined galvanized bucket with a lid is the best way to stay on top of the little droppings she leaves in the yard. The issue is flies and the nastiness that comes with the egg laying and well, you get it. I used to hang a fly trap right next to the bucket in the side yard and while it was always filling up fast and kept the pests away from the patio they're messy to deal with and actually, quite disgusting. I discovered these 2 years ago and will never be without them. I stick one to the underside of the lid and it lasts for a couple of months. There are no flies, no maggots, nothing! They work great for my purpose and I'm positive they'd be just as good anywhere that flies are a problem.

Fully Effective
I used this for my garbage can last summer and for the first summer ever I had no issue with flies and their odious young who shall not be named. I had no issue with adherence and I am ordering a new one for this season.

Lord of the Flies
The media could not be loaded. I purchased this product in August, it is now November and I belive this product is supposed to last 4 months and let me tell you how the last few months went: the day after gluing the pod to the lid, I noticed a few dead flies on the bottom of the trash can but still a lot of live ones. I gave it a few days but flies and maggots were still living in my trash can. After a couple of weeks I came to the conclusion that this product works so-so, it killed a few flies but not enough to fix my fly issue. At one point maggots even started crawling around and inside the pod like it was nothing! I left it alone as weather started to cool off ( I live in SC so by cool off, I mean below 80°) and I started seeing less flies but I think the weather change had more to do with it than this product. As weather fluctuated between a few cool days and warm days, the amount of flies also fluctuated. Two days ago, after trash was picked up, they left the lid open and I noticed the my trash can was FULL of flies and maggots, there were so many of them flying around that I couldn't even get close to the trash can. I finally decided enough is enough and I grabbed my garden hose and began rinsing off the trash can to get all of the nastiness off and the maggots. While I was spraying the lid, the pod fell off and fell on my driveway, I thought "oh well, its trash anyway" and continued spraying the trash can until I felt it was clean and moved on. Now here's the horrifying part: I dont know what about the pod getting wet caused this but a few hours later, I noticed flies gathering around the pod and seemed to be dying? The next morning even more flies were gathering around it, there's so many of them you can't get close and its really disgusting! There are so many flies and they're all coming to my driveway 😭😭I'm attaching a video of what I'm looking at when I look at my driveway. This product definitely didn't work as intended and now I feel like the lord of the flies with all of these flies gathering and dying in my driveway and I dont know how many more will come but I don't want to get close and pick up the pod.

Great product. Horrible double sided tape included
I have to say these work extremely well - but come on, can they just include a double sided tape that is easier to take off than wet jeans off a cold mad woman in Alaska?!I forget easily and this happened last year when I put these on. I spent 10 minutes questioning my sanity before I remembered I had double sided tape in my tool box.But overall glad these exist as they work great! (When you finally get these things sticking to your garbage can)

No stinky flys
No stinky smells. The only problem is the sticky tab does not stick. I put it on, garbage was collected and it fell off. very upsetting, since I had just put it on a couple of days ago. I will try it with a zip tie as noted on here. maybe the company can make a better design?

Terro T800 — kills the beasts so you can keep your sanity!
We just moved into a recently renovated/flipped home. Everything was brand new and the home was clean, clean, clean! But, we had this horrible problem — flies! We couldn’t open the garage door or take out the trash or even come in the front door without flies getting in. Considering how diseased these critters are, I didn’t want them in my home. At one point I had killed 10 in a single day.. in my home!Enough was enough! We had purchased one of those rectangular zappers you see, rebranded a thousand times, for $40 on amazon and they do work great (although loud and a bit scary to handle.) Even though it was killing our active flies, the problem still persisted. My friend told me to wash out the trash can outside (the likely source of these flies) with bleach and soap water after the trash had been taken. So I did. I bleached and watched all those larvae go toodles into the soapy and bleach abyss. I thought that would be it. But, nope! Two days later, I’m taking out the trash and lift up my trash can and am met with a swarm of no less than 30 flies. 30!! Where did they come from in two days?!So, I turned to Amazon once again. I saw that Terro had a garbage guard for $7 that had decent reviews. So I figured it wouldn’t hurt. I risked it and purchased the Terro T800. It arrived the next day. When I got it, it didn’t smell like anything. It’s super tiny. I thought in NO WAY would this thing do anything. But I stuck it anyway to the garbage kid, and like another reviewer suggested, I put it by the hinge to help prevent it from being knocked out by trash. Then, I close the lid reluctantly. I was pretty sure this tiny, non electrical, non-smelly thing wasn’t going to do SQUAT. Like all the vitamin reviews on Amazon, I was pretty sure any review was made up. But, I left it alone.I came back two days later to take out more trash and was preparing my fateful demise involving 30 more flies. My hand went up to my face. I made sure to close my mouth — you know, just in case. One fly. One came out. WHAT?I look into the trash can which has been previously alive with maggots and saw none. NONE. And what I saw were a bunch of dead fly bodies. Those horrible vermin were gone. This must have what it felt like to be Dexter.. I have officially wiped out the enemy with punishable death. Two days later I return and just a moth comes out and the flies are still dead. It’s been a week and I have not had to kill a single fly in my house. It’s been a week and I have not had to suffer the annoying sound of the bzzzz behind my head as I read a book and then turn around with anger, “Where are you!” I no longer have the guts of flies smashed on my palms as I smash them against the window in my vain quest to rid them from my house. To think, months of suffering with flies and all I had to do was get this Terro Garbage Guard. It is $7 with prime and will be the best investment for you! I cannot recommend it’s enough.Thank you, Terro, for giving me my sanity back.
