Very, very pleased -- I love this thing
I am very, very pleased with the look of this watch. It shouts quality. At this price I was expected rough machining and stampings, but the metal parts and gears look very clean, the plating looks good, the crystals look good. The nice looking case is two tone the side quite ornate with a contrasting copper color. The strap even looks nice with a deep red pattern and on the back is marked "genuine leather".There are clearly red 'jewel' bearing mounts for the balance wheel, and while it is harder to see it looks like three gears also have a small red 'jewel' mounts. Looking with a magnifier glass down deep I see an additional 'jewel' bearing that is probably for the escapement pivot. Of course it's not an 18 jewel watch like the beautiful Helbros I had in high school 60 years ago, but hey, it does have (at least) five 'jeweled' bearings, not bad. This watch is virtually silent. You need to hold it up to your ear to anything at all. And what you hear is a very fast beat. I tried to count it and get roughly 25 ticks or beats in five seconds, or five beats/sec. The second hand also shows many quick small steps in a second. You can see the balance wheel is moving very fast. In general Wikipedia notes the faster the beat count per second the more accurate the watch.I bought it as an object d'art that appeals to my engineering sensibility, and I like a bargain. So it's real thick and as a watch real clunky, I don't care, I am not going to wear it. It might keep lousy time, I don't care, I am not going to wear it. When I wind it, it comes to life, that is all I care about. It is hard to wind because there is an overhang of the case over the winding stem that makes it hard to grasp. I do care about this a little.A couple of notes. You don't get a good look at the inner working from the top. If you look carefully at the photos you will see that what you are looking at under the hands is a single ornately cut plate. However through its openings you can see some of the balance wheel and the winding spring. The inner workings are much more clearly seen through the transparent back. This watch is a manual wind. That is what you want. Auto wind mechanical watches usually have a large solid rotating plate on the back that covers up about half the back window. Not that it much matters, but the watch I received differs slightly from the photos. Many of the manual wind skeleton watches on Amazon in this price range, and sold under several different brand names, are essentially the same as this watch, differing only in the face design and/or strap. One give away that the guts of these watches is the same as this one is that the hands are the same.

Beautiful, but enormous
UPDATE:It is now 2025 and I have owned this watch for 9 years, having written the review below in 2016. I just passed this watch onto my 14 year old grandson who loves it and wears it all the time. I paid $15.50 for this 9 years ago and it still keeps perfect time. Can't really expect more.2016 original review:I have MANY watches and was eager to get back to a wind up...battery replacements are killing me. I LOVE the look of this and it keeps perfect time, but IT'S HUGELY THICK. It stands almost 1.75cm off your wrist and is so bulky that it flops around on the wrist, making it awkward in any number of scenarios, keyboarding and getting caught on things being the primary problems. I was thinking I'd wear this daily, but it's a weekend watch for me and I'm kinda bummed about that.

3 years isn't long enough
I love this watchI have had it exactly 3 years and I wear it every single dayAfter one year i had to replace the watch band.I got it as a gift in April 2018As of yesterday it completely diedI'm really sad, only three years in the life of the product?I contacted the seller and they offered a 5% discount to purchase another since it's outside their warranty time. That's honestly insulting because that's the automatic discount offered already on Amazon and 5% is hardly offering anythingI wanted this watch to avoid just throwing something away as Americans typically do.I'm not sure what to do at this pointSo, yes I loved the watch- so so much. Got so many compliments. But 3 years is not long enough for the life time of a product. Can stuff not be made to last anymore?

Beautiful watch; poor quality band
I love this style of watch. I have another one in black that I have had no problems with. This one, however, is particularly difficult to wind. The wrist band began to tear at the seams after only a few days of use. The way I wear it pulls the seams tight anyway, so it doesn't affect the aesthetic much; but I was disappointed.I still love the watch, though.

Great value
Overall a great looking and functioning watch for 25$. It is true that it is somewhat difficult to wind. But frankly, unless you have arthritis, you’ll be fine to wind it. If you wind it fully it seems to last close to 24 hours.

A BEAUTIFUL WATCH/ A BEAUTIFUL GIFT
Arrived on time in great condition. I purchased for myself as a statement piece. I had to replace the band as it fell apart but I like metal bands anyway. I love the "steam punk" style and watching the workings within the watch. Make sure you remember to wind the watch twice a day. Do not hesitate to purchase. Just beautiful.

Very poor quality.
This is a very poor quality piece. I'd give it one star, but you can only expect so much for $16.First, the dial is crooked. The crown at the top and all of the other numbers are off-center notably as if the dial were rotated to the left a few degrees.Second, it's hard to believe this thing is stainless steel as claimed. It is featherweight like plastic, and the case looks and feels like plastic with chrome paint applied.Third, the "crystal" is the lowest quality piece of clear plastic I can imagine.Fourth, the color of the dial numerals and the color of the engraved portion of the skeleton movement is not as pictured. In real life, it is yellow gold color, and a particularly nasty shade of it. Looks like plastic, and clashes with the rose color of the exterior. This is not evident in the pictures. The band is of good quality for an inexpensive watch, and so far it runs. That's about all I can say for it. I wasn't expecting much for $16, but I'm disappointed and don't think it is worth even that.I'm not opposed in principle to cheap Chinese watches - I have a few Stuhrlings that I like - but this thing makes my Stuhrling seem like a Breitling by comparison.
