Uniden Replacement BT-905 cordless phone battery

My old HP 35 calculator works fine all these years later when plugged in. However, it has been ages since I was able to use it untethered due to lack of batteries. The original battery pack died beyond my ability to remember, so I used it tethered on occasion but mostly stashed in the back of a drawer in my office. Some yrs ago I read about soldering 3 Ni-Cad in series with some brass plates for the contacts taped to one side and it worked fairly well until those batteries died. Prepping to move and packing up, I came across the calculator so I went through a search recently and came across the person who wrote about how to make a suitable battery pack and he updated it to include some NiMH. Since the charger does a trickle charge, it can also support the NIMH batteries. Rather than soldering 3 batteries, he listed a couple of cordless phone batteries that could work with less fuss. During my search I ran into this pack that says its rated for 1600mah or a whopping 1000mah more than most at a similar cost. Well it might take 30 hrs to fully charge it but then it will last so much longer. I'm not sure how much charge is left when I got it but after cutting off the connector and soldering the wires to the brass contact plates and taping them in position - it works! So now my ancient calculator has new life. Unfortunately I happen to be 50+ yrs older myself now and long retired from engineering. At least I can carry the calculator around in its leather belt holster and feel like I'm back in college as I explain to my kids and grand daughter how we engineers have evolved from the dark ages of hauling around a slide rule to the speed and convenience of the portable scientific calculator to the even more convenient app on our phones. The pack itself seems well made, came charged to some level and appears to be a great deal at $7.

Bought as a replacement battery at the suggestion of the Vevor Weather Station support people. As I suspected, the plug on the battery didn't match the plug on the weather station. I was able to splice the plug from the old battery onto the wires from the new. The battery is working fine.

My Uniden 5.8 GHz cordless phone is about 15 years old and the original battery finally died this past summer. I love this phone and its features, so I knew I would be shopping for a replacement battery. I believe Uniden is out of business, so I went to Amazon to search for batteries. The Kastar was an Amazon selection, 3.6 volts same as the OEM battery, and 1600mAh milliamp hours (the energy charge the battery will hold) is considerably more than the OEM battery, so the specs. were fine. Fitting in the phone is snug, especially so because Uniden did not leave ample room for the wires, my only complaint. The performance of the battery so far (only bought it 3 months ago) is great with the background lighting and signal strength being better than I remembered. I think it's a tremendous value, especially if it lasts 2 years or more.

Still works fine 3 years and 4 months after I got it. Good battery life.

Batteries received were Philips SJB2191H (3.6v, 700mAh, NiMH). Even though Philips is generally a reliable brand, these batteries, after almost exactly 3 years in my cordless phones, are now giving me only about 10 minutes of phone conversation before I get the low battery beeping warning. Original batteries that came with the Uniden phone lasted nearly 10 years. This seems to be a common complaint for these replacement batteries, regardless of brand name or supplier, especially among those reviewers who have waited a year or more to report on their longer term performance.
