This item appears to be very old, and possibly not designed for current (2025) home land line use?
This product did not work for my rotary home phone. We have a land line, and the rotary phone works fine. I wanted to locate it in a room in the house that did not have a phone plug in the wall. I tried plugging in the Base unit in different locations and plugging in the extension unit in different locations. I was never able to obtain a dial tone. The plastic package that it came in looked really old..in fact the plastic is a faded yellow color. It was very difficult to open as the plastic was so old. Dates in the instruction manual show 1994 & 1998. When I called the listed help number, is was to Medicare. I'm assuming that this package has been sitting on a shelf for many years!!!!

RCA Wireless Phone Jacks
At first I was hesitant to order this particular phone jack due to some of the negative reviews. I spent quite a bit of time looking in other websites; however, Amazon offered the best deal (as usual) and free shipping. I came to the conclusion that other sites offering other brands also had some negative reviews, so I might as well take a chance with the Amazon link and save the shipping while I was at it. ;) Other reviews warned to read the instructions closely and to follow them, which I did. I needed the phone jack in order to hook up a telephone line to the back of my DVR Dish Network receiver. This would save me $5 per month on my bill if they could access the DVR via a phone line. I plugged it in per the instructions; I put the main unit in the bedroom wall where I already had a phone jack. Then I placed the other part in the living room where the DVR resides. Amazingly, the signal went thru several walls and furniture. I called Dish Network on my cell phone so they could check the phone line on the DVR and it worked perfectly. Needless to say, I'm very happy with the quality of the RCA phone jack, it was very easy to install, just like they claimed and my husband was glad to not have dealt with the installation, since I did it. Another great buy from Amazon. :)

It works pretty good.
The setup was pretty easy. I plugged everything in and it worked - or so I thought. I use this with my Dish Network reveiver. It shows that the phone line is connected but will not dial out to order pay-per-view. That dissapoints me a little. I guess it is possible that it is user error, but I can't find any other instructions on how to corrrect the problem.

DOESN'T SUPPORT CALLER ID
The seller makes a great effort to say that It also supports call forwarding, call waiting, three-way calling, conference calling, and speed dialing, but forgets to mention a very IMPORTANT feature that this item DOESN'T SUPPORT "CALLER ID". Nowhere in the description is mentioned, only when you expand the technical data you see the features that does not support. It only shows (Caller Identification: N) once you expand the technical info, so be aware that this item DOESNT' SUPPORT CALLER ID". If you have a phone with Caller ID and want to use it in another room, this item DOESEN'T SUPPORT CALLER ID and you won't see who is calling. The sound quality is fair. You can hear a little echo, like when you are on a speaker phone. This item is ok only if you just want to add a line to a room or office and do not care about caller ID or a little static noise during short conversations.

Great For Adding a Fax Line. (Update)
We purchased this item to use with our all-in-one printer (with fax) where there was no phone jack. It works great for this because you don't have to worry about sound quality. I tested it with a regular phone and it has some static sound but, if you place the units close enough to each other it sounds almost perfect. --------(Update)---------- I started to use this with a telephone and you will hear static but, once your in the call it seems to go away. I can recommend this now for Fax and Phone Use.

(not so) Great solution for my home office
Works exactly as advertized. Needed a phone jack in an empty room that was converted to a home office. - update to review After a couple weeks of use, am getting a buzz through the jack that makes the unit unusable. will work only approx. 20% of the time. Rated it too high the first review.

Works but not reliably with my DirecTV receiver.
The units work but not reliably with my DirecTV receiver which is why they were purchased. They look identical to the ones I had prevously except for the branding and those worked reliably for at least a decade before no longer functioning. Plugging a standard POT into the remote unit you can hear a dial tone but a very significant amount of noise on top of it. I would recommend others considering purchasing these units for a similar application look closely for alternative solutions.

Pros: -Great for those areas of the house that does not have access to any phone jack. Cons: - Expensive for such an old tech ( that's to be expected I guess since not alot of demand for it these days.) So far, this device work as it should out of the box. I use it primarily to connect my printer. ( My wife use the fax function for her work). This device allows me to move the printer to a more convenient location other than the kitchen - where the phone jack is located. I cannot comment about the phone function since I don't use it to call anybody. I will leave that up to other reviewer. It's more than sufficient for my need sending occasional fax. My wife and I are quite satisfied with this product.
