It Has Its Place
These are OK. I’ve used them on about 3 jobs now, both sides of the vehicle. First one was faultless. Second one it didn’t quite fit and had to use some socket sets to get it to work but got there eventually. 3rd one it wouldn’t budge the joint and ended up bending/slipping. So I had to resort to a pickle fork. Fine for things like Tie rod ends but seized up old control arm ball joints, maybe not. It’s cheap and you get what you pay for. You’d have to pay £80+ for a decent one.

If you know how to use it, it will last you
Put some pressure on the joint, you don't need much. Then using a hammer and a suitable drift, ovalise the tapered hole your ball joint sits in. It will fly apart with a bang. Just winding on pressure will just damage the tools. Wide enough for VW Golf Mk5 ball joints, not all are. Great value for money, a tool for parting most tapers with ease.
