If this doesn’t explain it all
This book is not only fun, it pushes me out side of my crochet limits. Its helped me strengthen my ability to read written patterns and to read the symbol patterns. The box is the best granny square book I’ve purchased so far. I am a quick learner visually but didn’t want to have to use internet videos / tutorials for everything. I wanted to be able to rely on myself. If someone is to say “hey i want this, or this” or points to something in a book or magazine. I can confidently say OK i caaaaan do that. Because now I know how to read it. Instead of trying to find videos or something close to it. Its also helped me strengthen my confidence to make. OWN creative twists on some of the squares. Put my own little flare on it. I know HOW to now. I’m not playing things so safe. I read past reviews and honestly it started to make me hehaw on whether to get the book, I’m glad i went with my gut. Oh and yes, one pattern might have 3 variations. To ME 3 variation = 3 diff squares. If the end result looks diff from the original (and I don’t mean like the color or size) they may have jumped it from a 6in to 10in with a decorative optional boarder. Making it from a granny to what iiiii would consider a beautiful build upon afghan center. So i guess its up to perception, squabbling, “technicalities” etc. there might be say xx true patterns but xx total patterns (if you include variations. Which to me are bonus) i guess it depends if you want to see the win or …. Nope i still can’t see how its a loss. The book is a total win in my eyes. I would recommend this ten fold to anyone. Beginner to novice. Its fun, informative and challenging. And the collaboration of the artists is pretty freakin exciting. I was truly excited to see some artists i follow online in there. ACES in my book. 10 out of 10

One of the best Granny Square Books Available
I have bought several Granny Square books and borrowed several from the library. This is one of the best I have found.PROS:- Charts and written instructions are included for each pattern- The intro tells you exactly what each color is in the picture by referencing with letter. Then those letters are included in the written instructions. This makes it easy to verify that you are on the row you think you are on.- I have made 4 so far and I have not found any errors or confusion- The intro also includes the website and instagram account of each pattern's designer. I love being able to follow the designers of my favorites.CONS:- If using worsted weight yard, these turn out so big. I started my journey of making Granny Squares using the Granny Square card deck and those are much smaller. This is going to make it difficult to join all of the squares into the sampler blanket I am making but a common problem that I have seen across the board. If I started with this book, I probably would have started with bigger squares and then just added rows to smaller designs. With that said, I am enjoying this book and decided to just keep going!

Unique patterns worth the purchase
This is one of my favorite books. First loaned from the library and that sealed the deal, had to buy it. Advanced or medium instructions, so just a heads up…but wow the patterns are gorgeous and had not seen most of the patterns elsewhere.

So many squares to choose from
There are so many square options in this book! I love the variety. I've also used some of the center flowers by themselves on other crochet projects.

Easy to follow directions
Lots of granny square patterns included in this book. I tried out the first 3 today. The instructions were easy to follow - includes written instructions with the pattern using symbols. It also specifies what colors you should use and a color photo of the finished square. I like the pattern because sometimes it gets confusing to visualize how the stitches need to align. They recommend using cotton yarn but I find that it is much stiffer and not easily handled (I used medium 4 weight cotton yarn). I also like how they recommend which patterns pair well with others. All squares are 80 stitches so they will match up with each other. Will try making the granny squares using acrylic lightweight yarn that I have left over. Can't wait to try the other patterns.
