Solid Resource
I used this book as well as the GMAT to prep for my master's programs back in the day. The questions are well done, but the difficulty is challenging. The practice tests are very useful. They are also very helpful in helping you plan out your study schedule before your test.As they put out new editions, and the practice tests get used up, I'll be sending these off to the local library for someone else to use, as I haven't used every test, and there will be an overlap in material between the years.

Phenomenal for verbal and analytical writing. Got the scores I wanted...
This book is phenomenal for the verbal and analytical writing, but not so much for the math (hence 4 stars). If your math skills are very weak or you haven't done HS math, well, since HS, you'll need a more math-specific guide. What I love about the book is the breezy prose and the fantastic job it does on making you understand the test structure itself. The tips and strategies are invaluable. The analytical writing section is amazing, and the list of common GRE vocabulary words was SPOT ON. I can't believe how many were actually on the test! A lot of the GRE is not so much verbal knowledge, but knowledge about taking the test itself. I scored a 154 (64th %ile) on the verbal and a 4 (59th %ile) on the writing. Both are above the 50th percentile which was my goal, and I was accepted into both doctoral programs I applied for (both excellent schools with national reputations). I highly recommend this book. Don't wing it. Even for those with above average intelligence, the GRE is a very difficult exam.

Ideal practice
I got this book for my GRE and it greatly helped me get ready for my test. It comes with several practice test and a diagnostic test both timed and untimed which I utilized greatly. The sections are easy to understand and helped me break down the practice problems that they presented and when I came across an issue with a problem ( me and a friend could not obtain the answer that they had presented) I was able to contact them and was given a very quick and helpful response/explanation as to why I wasn't getting the presented answer. I recently took the GRE for the first time and did better if not at the level that I was doing on the practice. It does not grade your writing, but gives you a way of self-grading it and I did in fact get my self-grade! I recommend this for those who do better with online platforms or need both online and off-line. Both methods work for me, but I did utilize the online portion more so do to the amount of time I had to study before my test came about a month later.

Good pricing. A lot of resources. Great over all.
Just received my book two days ago. The front cover has a rip of an inch and a half or two inches on the bottom right side. It’s also been bent because of the rip. Despite that, everything else seems fine as of now. Prep Plus is the best way to go if you want everything about the GRE in one book. Otherwise you could purchase their separate books for each section of the GRE.

Good tool to use
Wonderful book. My niece has not taken this test since high school in 2010 and needed to take it again to go back to school to get her PhD. I gave this to her as an encouragement tool and she said that it not only helped her but her husband as well. She got a 300 when she took the test in high school and even with a family and work now, studying from this book allowed her to get a 290. Not too bad.

The Nickelback of GRE Prep
I've been a GRE tutor since 2008. We tutors tend to agree than Kaplan GRE books are some of the worst in the industry, and this one is no exception. Poor question realism, mediocre advice, and spotty coverage of GRE concepts. Why, then, do so many students buy them? The brand name and the millions of Kaplan marketing dollars. There are so many better options, though. Just like talking to someone whose favorite band is Nickelback - you want to tell them about the thousands of other bands that are so much better.(No offense if you like Nickelback, but come on - your FAVORITE band?)Anyway, skip this book and make sure most of your learning is from official ETS GRE questions and tests. There are better sources of technique out there for free on YouTube, as well, or from books like The Princeton Review or Manhattan Prep. And you can learn tons of math for free on Khan Academy. In my study plans, you'll find all my GRE prep recommendations.

good English prep, just OK on the Math
Got this for my son to use preparing for the GRE. His English scores went up, but it was not as helpful on the Math part.

In-depth and fun to read
Amazing so far. It’s been a few years since I’ve graduated with my Bachelor’s, and I was anxious about getting back into a studious lifestyle, but this guide has made the process enjoyable so far. I’m a few chapters in and am impressed with the level of depth this text offers for explanation to their practice sets. There is nothing left unanswered. Haven’t even used the online resources yet but I’m sure I’ll be satisfied. Thank you!

Lovely book
I would strongly recommend this book to all the people who wants to prepare the GRE test by their own, without attending to any courses. The book is well organized, it has several online contents that will help you throughout the days of preparation. In particular, there is a starting questionnaire to fill up in order to have a personalized plan of study. I found this option really helpful because otherwise I would not have been able to organize correctly my time!
