Works, but full of quirks
I bought this to replace an older dongle that I had been using for the past two years. I love the Purgo dock's compact design, which fits snugly alongside the laptop instead of hanging by a flimsy cable. The HDMI port handily supports my 4K display with no flickering or blanking like I've seen on so many older USB-C docks, and the USB ports seem to work well also--my keyboard and wireless mouse receiver were quickly recognized and I was able to use them immediately. The two biggest shortcomings with this adapter are that (a) the HDMI jack (and possibly the network; didn't check) requires power from an external source to function (i.e. those ports won't work if the dock is just plugged into the side of your fully-charged MacBook) and (b) it doesn't seem to play very well with chained USB-C devices and docks. If I plug my old dock into the Purgo's USB-C port, the Purgo dock will use power delivered from the other dock through the Thunderbolt/USB-C cable, but devices plugged into the old dock aren't recognized by my MacBook. If I remove the Purgo dock and plug my old dock directly into the MacBook it recognizes the peripherals connected to it without issue. To be fair, I can get by fine with this dock when I'm traveling, as I only need to plug in my mouse receiver and a security key generator. But when I get home I'd love to make use of the webcam and wired keyboard I have plugged into the home dock, and with this unit I cannot, or at least not reliably--there may be a way to force my Mac to recognize the peripherals on the old dock, but I haven't explored that yet. This dock would be a home run if it could run off the power of the MacBook, and if it contained two additional USB3 ports. You could then plug in a keyboard, mouse, webcam, and a security key (Yubi or other key code generator) directly into the dock, without having to delicately swap out USB plugs so that you don't break the electrical connection from the delicate USB-C connectors (this is a HUGE peeve of mine, for ALL USB-C devices; it's such a junky, flimsy, ill-conceived connector design). It also wouldn't have been a bad idea to cover up only one of the two USB-C/Thunderbolt ports on one side of the MacBooks. My 2016 MBP has only two Thunderbolt ports, so this little gadget occupies them both and leaves me with one USB-C port on the side of it to chain additional devices or plug in power. For the money it seems to be a good device. But I'm going to look for something with more ports and that possibly doesn't have the issues chaining other docks to.

Essential press room and home office accessory for the Mac PowerBook
I've not had the hub for long, but initial impressions are good. As a multi-media journalist the selection of sockets suits me well. Transferring large files by wi-fi or bluetooth doesn't work when there's time pressure. This combination of SD and micro SD slots, the Ethernet slot, HDMI and a couple of USB 3 slots covers all the recording equipment I carry. I've tested most of the slots (except the hdmi) and they all work. I like that I can charge through the USB C slot. Even though there are USB C charging ports on the other side of the laptop, on a crowded desk it's not always practical to attach a cable there. My only complaint so far is the plastic case. It seems a little pricey at almost $60, even though it works out to less than $10 per adaptor, and for the money I'd hoped for a metal case, particularly for the lift-up ethernet flap. Hopefully it will be robust enough to survive my travels during the coming three or four years.

Don't buy this
I REALLY wanted to love this adapter. It is elegant looking and seems like just the sort of thing Apple themselves should have built. But I've been [tyring] to use it for 5 months now. When it works it is GREAT. But that is only about 1/3 of the time.At first it was making my MacBook crash - Mac version of blue screen of death. Inexplicably that subsided and it seemed to work OK for a couple months. But more recently disks just disappear. And even though the crashes don't seem to be happening, if I have had the adapter in, whether it is still plugged in or not, the MacBook never shuts down; it just hangs after closing all the desktop icons.Overall I'd guess that whatever passes for firmware in this device doesn't quite adhere to the USB-C protocol. It is a shame. And I still use it a lot of tie time because I really want it to work. But it is a level of frustration one usually only gets to experience with windows based computers.Your life will be better if you don't buy this.

Outstanding USB C Hub Configuration and Size
This is a USB C hub, perfect for expansion of the standard USB C ports on the 2019 MacBook Pro. I really wanted an all-in-one hub to eliminate the need for carrying multiple dongles, and this configuration fit the bill - along with USB A, HDMI and SD ports, it has an RJ45 port for wired gigabit ethernet (for those times when wireless is just too slow). The hub has a similar depth to that of the MBP so the bottom sits mostly flush (no need to support it underneath). Purgo upgraded my delivery to Prime as well, so I received the hub very quickly - thanks!

Nice accessory for macbook pro
I have a 2016 macbook pro, the one with 4 usb-c ports. There are a lot of things to love about usb-c, but unfortunately it's not totally ubiquitous. I have gone the route of carrying around whatever dongles I feel like I might need. That's fine, but I have to say it's nice to have them all in one. The color and finish are nice, matching my silver macbook nicely, and the ports that I've had the opportunity to test out work as expected.I expected it to be a little heavier, or more substantial, which is probably a pro for most people, but like a little heft. Also, in my case at least, the hub does not sit flush with the surface of the laptop (see picture). Not dealbreakers by any means, at least for me. Overall I feel like the value is pretty good if you're looking to replace some dongles.

Works well with 2019 MacBook Pro
I recently upgraded from an old MBP to the 13" 2019 MBP. This Hub adapter was the perfect add on to allow for a wide range of perpipherals. I tried the ethernet connection (works), both USB ports (work), and the SD card slot (works). I connected to a Dell monitor via HDMI (works). I didn't have a microSD so I couldn't check that.I like that it fits perfectly and I can use the USBC port as a pass through for power/charging. Easy to use, just plug it in (and make sure it is in all the way with no gap !). Only had it a few days so nothing to report in terms of longevity. The only negative I could find is that the adapter seems to run hot for no reason. Even with nothing plugged into it, it is much warmer than my laptop. Other than that, I highly recommend.
