Lights are on but no one's home
UPDATE----------------I took my sweet time getting in touch with the seller and by the time I did, it was well past the return window. The seller was still kind enough to not only send me a replacement unit at no charge, but to test it as well to make sure that it works. The first one I got was a dud, but the replacement is working great. It has a simple job and it does it well. I have no complaints and couldn't ask for more. A lot of comparable units have the output HDMI port on the front for some strange reason, and most of them don't look half as sleek as this one.The blue LEDs can be kinda bright, that much is true, but there's a really neat thing you can do to make that a non-issue. You can simply look at your TV instead of the bloody LEDs! Come on, people! My original review for this unit was a one star and shortly after I posted it, a rep from the manufacturer reached out to me and offered to personally help me resolve my issue. Since I was already in contact with the seller, I didn't need to contact the rep, but I still appreciate them reaching out. Everyone I dealt with, form the seller to the manufacturer's rep was extremely forthcoming and professional. I would gladly do business with both companies in the future.Keep up the great work, guys!ORIGINAL REVIEW----------------------------The first time I connected this thing, I briefly got picture on my screen, before it was gone. I tried everything I could think of to get it back up and running to no avail. I'm a pretty tech savvy guy; this isn't my first time connecting electrical components. Still, I assumed I must've been doing something wrong and set this thing aside, deciding to make double sure that the next time I try to set it up, I follow the instruction manual TO THE LETTER.I did this today, and the results were the same. Nothing at all. I have tested all my components and all my cables. Everything works fine. The switch is the only problem. All the lights are on, the remote works, the switching works, but every input gets the sane "No Signal" message. I am at the end of my wits with this thing. I bought it because I thought it was a cool product and I liked the remote, but this was a complete waste of money on a total piece of trash.I hate leaving negative reviews, but this product has left me no option. I've had it too long to return it (my fault for being lazy), and seeing as it's no longer available for purchase, my review will hardly matter. But I guess I gotta vent a little bit. Waste of my money, but more importantly, waste of my time. Completely useless.

Excellent Switch-Great Price
I recently purchased this 5-1 HDMI switch, and am very pleased with it. The 5 peripherals attached "in" are dvd players (of all ages, some 2016 models, others 8-10 years old), including Blu-ray and 3-D players. Also attached is an audio-only device. ( NOT attached are my Tivo and Roku devices (both these are attached directly to ports on my so-called "smart" tv. So I don't know about compatibility with these 2 devices--see other reviews and question/answers for comments. I also don't know if the switch can be operated by a "universal remote).I bought this switch on Amazon because one of the ports on my old switch was dead, and I lost the remote (they're all very small and easy to discard accidentally). This Sabrent was one of the least expensive 5-1 hdmi switches on Amazon and besides switching quickly and effortless between all connected devices, it had other features I wanted:1. The remote is powerful enough to reach the device at a distance of about 10 feet.2. This switch is not "smart" -- that is, it does not switch automatically if another device is powered on. Hallelujah ! Instead, one needs to manually switch inputs via the remote. So if you frequently switch between dvd players, it doesn't assume you want to immediately watch the player just powered on. And unlike my old switch, the lights on the front of the Sabrent do NOT all start blinking if I change the input on the TV itself, for example if I go to my Roku.3. The remote has a separate power on/off button for the hdmi switch it controls. Surprisingly many switches don't have this feature--you instead need to press an on-off button on the switch. The Sabrent hdmi box itself does not have a power on-off button--only the remote can turn the device on or off. The only button on the switch itself is for manually changing to another one of the 5 inputs. The blue light on the far left simply indicates whether the box is connected to a power source--it does not tell you if the switch is actually turned on or not. You only know this if any of the five white led's is lit.3. All the ports (in, out and power) are on the rear of the switch--no hdmi lines running from the sides or front of the device. And its only a bit over 6 inches wide and 3/4 inches high. What I don't like: the led indicator lights on the front of the device are too bright in a darkened room. I cure this by covering most of the lights with a piece of tape. Were it not for this distraction, I'd probably have rated this switch a 5.Overall, very pleased, especially at the price.
