iKlips II failed to free up storage space when I needed it to. Not recommended.
This device is too proprietary in what it can or cannot do.● If you want to record sound, video, or photos the flashdrive needs to be installed with iKlips app running. Recorder or Video/Photo/Time-Lapse feature functions have to be run from the iKlips app in order to be stored on the flahsdrive● It will play some music, not all. Unsure if it is a bit rate issue, MP3 vs. M4A, or what. Some music will not play. Music is sorted by Album Name. There are no other options available, nor can one select a playlist.● It does have some nifty backup options, although no custom backup plans available. However, if you have multiple photos, some may not copy over as readable. Buggy software?● Touch ID actually works, to use the device on the iPhone. However the data on the flashdrive is readable on the PC without requiring a passcode. Oops?● Claims to backup commonly used backups under Single tab Backup. Which seems to work. Also has Photo Backup, Contact Backup, Calendar Backup, Instagram Backup, Facebook Backup, & Evernote Backup. However there is no automatic Restore option anywhere. So while it is backing up, restoring may not be as easily managed. Oh, and for some odd reason, the iKlips app wants cellular access. Makes one wonder where your backup data is going. Suggest turning that off in App Management to be on the safe side.● My Files sees Photos and Music folders only.● Has Camera & Recorder options on the iKlipse app, and saves to its own folders. Nothing gets encrypted. If you want to copy recorded data over to this flashdrive you are in for a surprise, headaches, and possible aggravation.● iKlips II will only copy photos over, it will not move them.● iKlips II will not select multiple photos as show on the introduction video. Soon as you hold a finger down on a photo the proprietary software goes back to its root folder. Is impossible, with the recent (3/2018) update to select multiple photos. Each photo must be opened, press the copy icon, and then select the folder to save to. You can make folders, but have to specify which folder to save to individually - it is not a global setting and the device's OS will not remember last folder saved to.● iKlips II will not move any videos over that was recorded on the phone, or at least the iPhone SE that I bought the end of March. Have updated the OS to the latest as well.● iKlips II does not see any recordings made on the iPhone, so the space used to record a lecture, business meeting, recital, music jam, or anything cannot be moved off the iPhone onto the flashdrive to save on storage. iKlips II fails BIG TIME here.● iKlips cannot move documents over either, it does not see them.● Adam Elements features states, "Free up your storage space whenever you want." - Misleading, and lies. It only copies. It does not move anything.● The feature, "iKlips app enables users to secure all files by using Touch ID, so your files are kept safe with iKlips." - Misleading and also another lie. Files are easily read, used, and manipulated on a normal PC. Nothing is encrypted, nothing ask for a password or passcode. So your files are NOT safe if the flashdrive was lost or stolen. Oops again?Have found the iKlips II device more aggravating to use than anything else. I tried to give it an honest go. Their technical support said to turn off the iCloud sync in order to use photos. It may help to a degree, but still unable to manipulate/move photos over to the drive. Still meant doing individual copy & selecting to a folder. Try doing that after saving several hundred photos from a convention/meeting, and then to find out the Photo Backup did not copy all the photos over correctly... /deep sighThis device causes too much downtime and aggravation, and the features & demonstration videos are outdated and very misleading. The demo video OS version actually looked useful! What gets downloaded is another thing all together. Will keep an eye out for a Lightning/USB device that actually works like a flashdrive, and not using proprietary software. Android was so much easier to use. Get a micro-USB drive, plug it in, and transfer/copy anything the owner wanted.
