Just what we needed as novice mechanics and makers
We needed a vise for the garage, and after reading 100s of reviews, we settled on the Yost Vises 750-E Multi-Jaw Rotating Vise System. Let me tell you, this thing is a beast! I mean, it's made of 60,000 PSI ductile iron, so it's tougher than my neighbor's overcooked steak. The 5" jaw width and 3" throat depth make it feel like the Hulk of vises – it can handle anything you throw at it, from delicate jewelry work to "accidentally" dropping your brother-in-law's DIY project. And the best part? The head rotates a full 360 degrees so that you can spin your work around like a DJ at a wedding. It's so versatile that it might even help improve my husband's golf swing. Overall, this vise is the real deal – sturdy, reliable, and ready to tackle any job. Just don't let it get a big head from all the attention.

Highly recommended with new base provided under warranty.
Edit 3/8/2018: I spoke with Yost customer service about the base swivel. Pat was cordial, helpful, and after filling out an e-mailed warranty form, they did not hesitate to send a new base. It arrived and I installed it today. The new locking plate in this base works beautifully—no racking of the bolts and the swivel action is smooth and easy. I changed this review from 4 to 5 stars acknowledging both the great vise and excellent customer service. Original review: I unknowingly suffered with a small, cheap vise for many years. I didn’t know how great it is to have a larger, multi-function vise like this Yost. This thing is really stout, and except for the swivel base, functions smoothly and seems well made. The swivel base however is terrible. The design should be ok, but the casting for the locking disc is horrible; the recesses for the bolts are too big, causing the bolts to rack and bind as the base rotates. Since I won’t use this feature day-to-day, I’ll live with it and enjoy the parts of the vise that I will use. Still highly recommended.

Not perfect, but an amazing value
This is a great bench vice for the money! It's a $99 vice made in China, so some manufacturing flaws are to be expected, but it is FAR superior to similar priced junk at Home Depot and Harbor Freight. I really wanted to buy an American-made vice, but they are all overkill for my needs and cost much more money. I would rate this a light-to-medium duty vice, perfect for the weekend warrior and DIY hobbyist. As I mentioned above, it has some manufacturing flaws that I think you have to expect at this price point -- the paint is not completely uniform, the anvil has a few bumps on it (it is not machined flat), and they skimped on the finishing after the casting process as the edges are rough. So why anyone would rate a $99 vice with 5 stars is beyond me as the manufacturing leaves some room for improvement. BUT...operationally this thing works great. The swivel mechanism is decent (WAY better than others I tried at this price point), the jaws operate smoothly and close square, and the rotation mechanism operates smoothly as well. And the combination of the rotation and swiveling jaws make for a very handy setup. Now that I've used a vice that rotates, I can't imaging having a "regular" vice again. One last comment - this vice is tall. The top sits about 9" off my bench. So if you're short like me, just understand that the working height will be around 9" higher than your workbench. Since my bench is low, that wasn't an issue. But if your bench is taller, that could be.

Must have for DIY+
I have this in my garage and have used it more than I thought. The overall sturdiness and weight of the vise was better than I expected at this price point. Definitely glad I bought this one. The anvil helped me to shape some metal that holds my grass catcher better on my mower. I bought some plastic inserts for the vice and use those to hold wood without fear of marring the finish.

Good quality vise
This is a great vise. Operation is so smooth you can do it with one finger, locks up good and tight. The swivel head can become stiff when you've got the jaws locked down tight. Simply loosen your lockup, rotate the head where you want and lock it back down. If you're planning on pounding on something with a hammer every single day, probably wanna look into getting a solid steel vise. This is cast and best for doing cutting, filing, or anything else that falls into the light to moderate range of use. If only used for this type of work, it will last you a lifetime. This is the best cast iron vise I've personally ever seen or used. For the price, quality and function, it can't be beat. If your looking for a cast vise that will live up to a lifetime of heavy use and abuse, you're not going to find one. This isn't your Grandfather's solid steel vise that can still take a beating after 70 years. I agree, It's a shame they're not all solid steel and bomb proof. Unless you can get a good deal on one used, left to you in a Will or have a big wad of cash to spend, this is as good as it gets for light to moderate use.

Great Vise!
This is a great vise! Read the other reviews for all the great rotating and pipe vise features along with the small anvil area when you need to pound!

The vice is great. I have used it a few times now and am very happy with the gripping strength and the sturdiness of the construction of it. I put it on my workbench and like that it swivels. It makes working on projects considerably more versatile. Very happy and would recommend this vice at the price point.

The best vice I have ever owned and probably the last I will need. Very well built. At this price point, compared to CT and other brands it's a good buy. You will appreciate the shaft rotation feature, it's worth the $30.00 dollar price difference from the model below.

The only thing I'd say to improve, is the packaging, as it came in a torn box all taped up. It's a very heavy box and I ended up scratching myself. Otherwise, the product works fantastically.
