Great Bike Rack for the Price!I used this Allen Sport trunk rack for a couple of trips and it worked perfectly. It’s easy to install, holds two bikes securely, and fits well . The straps feel strong and the rack stays stable even on longer drives. Great value and very convenient!

This is a fantastic affordable bike rack for those who don't have a hitch and don't want to spend more on a rack than they did on their bikes. Installation was a breeze and I was able to mount two adult and one children's bikes on the rack without much hassle. All the straps attached and tightened with ease and I added some velcro cinch straps for extra security and to keep the tires from spinning. The bikes didn't budge through hours of driving. The bikes and rack were as easy to get off as they were to get on and didn't leave any marks on my car. I checked the Allen website to make sure my car was compatible (a 2019 Tuscon) and had no issues with its fit and security. Highly recommend this as a good quality bike rack that won't break the bank.

Perfect for a single bike. Relatively quick setup. If you’re not careful though when taking 2 mtb’s you will scratch your outer forks and brakes\levers. I recommend covering your fork and brakes/levers with a clean microfiber and Velcro strap before loading 2nd bike to minimize scratching. It’s a pretty tight fit with 2 mtb but overall it’s a secure system, was going 80mph down the freeway with 2 mtb’s and it held up. Fits easy in a sedans trunk when it’s not being used. Would definitely recommend for shorter trips, and for the price it’s a good product. 👍🏻

The first installation is easily the most frustrating part. When I first opened the box. I was very nervous that I was going to need a Boy Scout to help me attach it to my car. I settled for my roommate. It looks complicated when you first attempt to figure where every one of the flopping tentacle-like straps go. Then you press the rack's padded bars against your car and strap the hooks onto your trunk or hatchback.The product description brags about how initial assembly shouldn't take more than a few seconds, which isn't especially flattering to my skills. The first assembly is easily the most frustrating part. Took me about five minutes to discover exactly what goes where and how. Only about a minute of that time was spent crying and ruing existence.The second time you put it on takes about thirty seconds. Your straps are already at about the right length and your muscle memory will compensate for your general inability to attach things.Putting bicycles on there is pretty easy. Lift them up and into the little cradles. Then those are a simple strap on each side and it holds it secure. Repeat these steps for however many bicycles you plan to attach (which really maxes out at three total).I would recommend buying bungee cables to secure your front tire so that the handlebar stays stationary.Pros:1. I am terribly uncoordinated at these types of things. And I have managed to get my assembly time down to about 29 seconds. If I can make this thing stay on my car, then your dog probably could too.2. It's super compact. When I'm not using it. It fits really well inside my trunk.3. The price. I was initially going to buy a much more expensive one, but I decided to give this one a chance. It has worked tremendously for my needs.4. It holds very securely on the back of my Chevy Cobalt. I never have to worry about it.Cons:1. The instructions are not very intuitive or helpful. It ends up being more guesswork than I'm sure they intended.2. It looks very daunting at first. But once you attach it once. It's never difficult again.

Excellent bike rack that holds two bicycles securely at a great price.

I bought this bike rack for my 2013 Honda CRV (LX). I had gone to the Allen Sports website to verify that it would fit and it seemed like a great value and something that would work perfectly for me. I debated whether to purchase a one or two bike rack as I am the only one that rides, but I ended up opting for the two bike rack hopipng that my spouse would (at some point) become interested in riding as well. I will try to give some tips that will hopefully help you decide if this is a good fit for you, and also some tips on how to best use it:1. Check the Allen Sports website to see if it will fit your particular vehicle. DO NOT take it at face value when reviewers on here say it DOES or DOES NOT fit a certain vehicle. They may not know how to install it, or they may be installing it incorrectly (i.e. unsafely) in order to ‘make’ it work.2. The instructions for mounting the rack are fairly good but you really have to read them closely - ESPECIALLY when it comes to the bottom hook. The top and side hooks are fairly logical and self-explanatory… although make sure you use the correct hooks for top and side. The top hooks are bigger/wider than the side hooks, and the side hooks are also labeled.3. KEY for certain vehicles - this is the issue that ALMOST made me think that this wouldn’t work for me (even though Allen Sports said it would). The bottom hook has several ways to be utilized, depending on your vehicle. The main issue is whether you have something metal to clip the hook to. Today many bumpers, and even the bottom of cargo doors are a hardened plastic, OR they have no ‘lip’ over which to clip the hook. This was the case for me… and even though I read the alternate ways to solidly connect the bottom hook, it wasn’t apparent to me at first. Ultimately, you don’t really connect that bottom hook TO anything, but instead open the trunk/cargo door slightly and put the hook inside and close the trunk/cargo door back, which secures the hook inside the vehicle and you just tighten the strap.4. Depending on your car, and on your risk tolerance, you may want to consider using electrical tape around the hooks (some or all, depending on your vehicle) to help cushion and protect any paint. Since my vehicle is a 2013 it wasn’t an issue I was particularly concerned with but I did go ahead and opt to do it - figured it was easy to do and certainly wouldn’t hurt anything by doing it.5. Definitely do something to secure the tires, to keep them from spinning, and inthe case of the front tire, to keep it from swiveling and hitting the vehicle. You can use the excess on the tie down straps, or just use a bungee cord.The rack works perfectly on my Honda CRV and is actually even more steady/firm than I was expecting. Overall I could not be more pleased and am ready to hit the road!
