An elegant and effective solution
This is a device worthy of Apple*: elegant in design, nearly flawless in function. I do not have the problem of having to use excessive force for a click on the lower left corner of the trackpad that a few others have complained of (maybe they have loosened the I-beam fit a tad). This is a joy to use after 2 years of a klunky third-party wireless keyboard. A few reviewers have whined about the price: $30 for a few cents worth of plastic. These same people would probably see Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel ceiling as a few bucks worth of plaster and paint. I believe that innovation, aesthetics and quality of form and function are worth paying for. For those that don't, there are plenty of cheap cheesy alternatives.*"The reality is, not only can Apple not please everyone, it's not remotely interested in pleasing everyone...its mission is to change the world by making innovative and exquisitely designed technology products"Jason Snell, Macworld.com

Pretty much works as advertised
I really like this product. I needed something to hook my trackpad and keyboard together so that both could sit comfortably in my lap. it does this very well, so I'm pleased. The material also feels just like the keyboard/trackpad, and looks just the same (if you ignore the magicpad logo and stuff on it), so it even looks pretty good while in use. I took some of the other reviewers criticisms into account (with respect to not being able to easily click unless you press on the right side of the trackpad), but didn't notice any issues on a hard surface. However, know that my particular use case is primarily in my lap, and in that case, I can't hard click my trackpad anyway, so I haven't done extensive testing with that.(The below criticism only applies if you don't get/use all of the included parts; see my third edit)The only slightly annoying thing about it is that the magicwand doesn't keep both the keyboard and trackpad aligned exactly. It snaps them into the bar just fine, but there is leeway for them to twist slightly on uneven surfaces (i.e., my lap). So, if you want your keyboard and trackpad to stay at exactly the same level on your lap, look at another product that gives full bottom support and not just snaps at the "necks" of the other products. The reason I chose this product over other similar ones was because of reviews that said that the competitors didn't allow me to remove my keyboard/trackpad easily after installation. Removing the devices from the magicwand is fairly straight forward and easily done. I like to do different things with my keyboard/trackpad depending on where I'm working, so this was a requirement for me.TL;DR: if you want an easily removable/installable solution to keeping two things on your lap and don't mind a slightly wobbly result, this is a great product!Edit1: upon further review of my box and the instruction manual, it looks like my product didn't come with an H-beam stabilizer or T-Pad insert, which might actually fix my wobbling problem. It's still a good product without them, but now I'm bummed that I didn't get everything...oh well.Edit2: emailed TwelveSouth (the creators fo the product) and they're mailing me replacement parts right away. Very quick response.Edit3: Just got my replacement parts from the company. Completely fixed my one complaint about the twist. It doesn't look as cool as before, but it's far more functional. I also still don't have any clicking problems like some people have complained about. All of this increase my score by one star; I love this product!

Great concept...Okay Implementation...Terrible Price...
First the good:The MagicWand does what it is supposed to: it connects an Apple Bluetooth keyboard to an Apple Bluetooth Trackpad, making it essentially one item. If your keyboard and trackpad rest on a desktop permanently, then you might not need the convenience of keeping them as a unified component. I use my unit as the control for my Home Theatre PC, so keeping track of both units while attempting to navigate a widescreen TV from a chair is tricky at best. The MagicWand uses a single bar into which the keyboard and trackpad slide. They then connect to each other with a small "i-beam" shaped piece that holds the edge of the keyboard to the edge of the trackpad. When assembled, the MagicWand minimizes interference and truly creates the sense that the trackpad and keyboard were meant to be this way. Now, the awkward:A few things jump out at me after using this unit for just over a year. First, there was a little rubber piece that inserts above the i-beam that 1) doesn't really do anything, and 2) gets lost VERY easily. I truly haven't seen mine since the second week or so of using the MagicWand. I am assuming that my wife fed the rubber piece as a snack to our hungry Hoover at some point while vacuuming. The second issue I have with the design is that in order to replace the batteries for the keyboard (if you are right-handed), the keyboard and trackpad have to be separated to access the battery compartment (conversely, if you have the trackpad situated to the left of the keyboard, then the batter compartment of the trackpad will be obscured). This isn't a deal breaker, but it is a minor inconvenience and a bit of an annoyance to me.Thirdly, there are little rubber feet attached to the bottom of the MagicWand that keep it from sliding around on a hard surface. They are actually quite helpful in that regard. They are also equally vulnerable to falling off. Two of the four came off within the first few weeks. One was lost later, and one remains. It might be an issue with the glue simply not holding well. Because of the wobble of having only one rubber foot, I took a rubber pad that came with a hard drive and attached it to the MagicWand to keep it a bit more steady.Lastly, the piece is plastic. Is that a problem? Apparently not too much of one since my MagicWand has been used regularly since April 2011, but it does feel a bit 'cheap' and it does scratch pretty easily. No big deal, but worth noting....And the UGLY...The PRICE! I'm not exactly sure what possessed me to spend $30 on this thing. Were I to affix what I think a 'reasonable' price would be for a small tube of plastic imported from China, I would think $7.99 would be in the ballpark. $9.99 would seem fair. $14.99, tolerable. $29.99 is simply outrageous, IMO. Yet, here I am reviewing a small plastic tube imported from China for which I paid precisely $29.99. Can't say that I regret the purchase as it has done the job for me for a little more than a year, and honestly, there's no other alternative that is as simple a fix. But to think that I spent almost half of what the cost of a new Apple Bluetooth keyboard is for nothing more than a plastic tube strikes me as masochistic. The reality is that the best solution would be for Apple to manufacture and bluetooth keyboard WITH an attached trackpad so that the MagicWand would not be such a necessary evil. Until that happens, you are likely left with this as a 'second-best' option. It does what it is supposed to, albeit, modestly and with some quirks. Nonetheless, kudos to Twelve South for making available a product that accomplishes something Apple probably should have done since the start.

Easy to put together
Does what it says it does. Easy to put together, and take apart for replacing batteries. Also makes keyboard and trackpad easier to use as one unit.

Excelente aditamento
