Minimal judgement, photos and product description
This is an inexpensive indicator and magnetic base, that should be sufficient to get me started. I have not been able to put it to use yet, so until I update my review, I am primarily posting this to add pictures to help others get a better view of the product, and how it fastens together. As can be seen in the first photo, tightening the wingnut shortens the screw, which clamps the right split piece onto the rod of the magnetic base arm. The bit on the left is a cup and "nut" combo, with a through-hole perpendicular to the screw, with a split-sleeve within. As the "nut" is pulled into the cup, the through-hole gets cross-tension, tightening onto the stud within. The split piece on my unit was very tight, which makes adjusting it on the holder rod difficult. I should be able to pry it open slightly to ease motion. The now captive stud is what holds the indicator, as shown in the second photo. A thumbscrew is removed from it, and the indicator mounted with the stud through the mounting ear on the rear.

Great quality at a reasonable price!!!
Perfect inexpensive tool!!! I purchased this to use on a utv motor to find TDC I recently replaced the crankshaft on and it worked flawless. I've borrowed a friends in the past while rebuilding snowmobile engines and decided it was time to add one to my tool collection. For the price this is a great set to add to your toolbox.

Save the time and hassle, this is junk
When I by a tool, I expect it to work for what it offers. This is junk and I will be returning it to Amazon. The place that the dial indicator attaches to the arm is just metal sandwiching metal. The nut cannot be tightened enough to hold the gauge without movement - significant movement. No way to get two measurements the same. No instructions, return info, or even assembly diagram. Just junk. I call them "Gotcha's." Crap that is sold by vendors that think it is ok as long as it looks good on the shelf and cheap enough that people won't return it. I can go to Walmart for that.

Knobs aren't knurled enough, other than that it functions fine.
The knobs aren't knurled enough and they're very difficult to tighten, especially if you have dirty hands from working in a shop environment. I have to use pliers to tighten all the knobs when I use it. Other than that little caveat it works good.

I'm pretty happy with this indicator for the price
I'm pretty happy with this indicator for the price. The base is solid and the magnet strong enough for my purposes. The indicator is made from metal and seems to be descent quality. I can't comment on the point set. The adjustments are a bit cheap but with a little jimmy rigging I think they will work just fine.

The tips are what I wanted and now I have them.
I already had a 1" dial indicator as well as a magnetic base that still work fine. The tip set is what I really wanted out of this set. The variety of tips included is well worth the price of the whole kit. I wasn't surprised to find that the base and indicator were exactly the same (except for the name on them) as what I already have when I opened the box. I've had my base and indicator for years so I expect that these will also last a long time and now I have 2 of each if I should ever need them.

Youre mostly paying for the mag base
I gave it four stars because it is one of those “you get what you pay for“ situations. The dial seems to repeat to within 3-4 thousandths but is of very cheap material so I would watch how hard you set it down. The base has a pretty strong magnet it but altogether a little rough. The stand however it's nightmare to set up. The design does not allow for a full range of motions and the quantity of knobs that need to be adjusted make it difficult to fine tune a position without moving it too much. Not terrible price for the product however, I just would not recommend it to a machinist. I personally just use it in my wood shop to setup my equipment, does alright for that
