I am not particularly computer savvy so when I recently "cut the cord" to pay TV and started using free over the air (OTA) antenna TV, I had a lot to learn about streaming TV. I thought it would be like the old days where you just downloaded to a DVR that saved it to an external storage which fed it directly back to the TV. You didn't even need Wifi then. Eventually I got my new DVR streaming by using a small thumb drive for storage. I wanted more storage so purchased this MegaZ 320 GB External Hard Drive. It was the simplest step in the entire cord-cutting process. I plugged it into the back of the DVR and that was it. It has proved to be MORE than enough storage for my needs and has never caused me a moment of problems. I record a lot of daily shows including also very much on all four networks during primetime. It's really more than I can watch in one day so I catch up on weekends (since there are no sports now). If I should ever be unable to watch and delete the programs to where the storage unit ever became full, I would have to delete massive amounts because I would NEVER be able to have the time to watch it all. MORE than enough storage for ANYONE unless you're a movie buff who chooses to SAVE most every movie you watch. Great product.

Mac users, you will need to reformat this drive on a non-Mac device before you can use it on your Mac. If you don't have access to a non-Mac device, you may want to reconsider buying this. Luckily, my work laptop is a Dell. Other than that, it's a great value for the space!

Just received the 1 TB MegaZ Hard drive this morning and it is working great with my Mac. So far I transferred a bunch of pictures from my Mac’s hard drive to the MegaZ. I am able to open the pictures up. It came formatted with ExFat format, so I can use it with my Mac and it also will work on a a Windows PC without having to reformat it. I am only giving it 5 stars, because I don’t know how it will work in the long run.

I have a friend who had a lot of media saved to his computer (he's a DJ who has all of his music saved on his laptop). I bought this drive so he could back everythig up. The device worked so good, I bought one for myself because I have a TON of music, movies, and TV shows, along with pictures and other documents I wanted to keep. Still works great and I can maintain portability of the files where I don't want to bring my laptop.

This is great - it replaces the lack of memory - which I decided not to purchase when I bought my computer. Therefore, I paid a lessor price and this replaced that lack of memory more cost effective.

It help me add more storage to my Xbox.

I was using it to hold a bunch of files and safely unplugged it from my laptop the way that I do my other hard drive to move the files to my computer. Lucky for me, I still had a copy of all of these files on my laptop because when I plugged it into my computer, the damn thing just stopped working. The file window popped up for a second and then it was gone. I tried it on my laptop, nothing. I tried it on three other computers in the house and even tried it on an XBOX One to see if it would at least start the whirring noise that I can usually hear from it. Nothing! I was so frustrated! I haven't used it often enough for it to break, if anything I've probably used it around 4 times in total. I didn't keep it plugged into my laptop 24/7 because I move my laptop around a lot and was worried that I could cause a shortage in the cord - granted the cord is very thick, I just didn't want to risk it. I'm never buying this again, it was a total waste of money. It might've just been a one-time fatal error but I've never had something like this happen to me before with an external hard drive and it definitely wasn't something I was prepared for. I'm past the time I could get a refund but if I hadn't been able to retrieve those files some other way, I don't think a refund would've been able to account for how much I actually would've lost. I guess, be careful while on the Internet buying things. Nothing is incapable of failing.

I will be ordering more of these to store documents to saty HIPAA complient.
