This was the real deal: a brand new OEM Mazda part (BBM4-59-310E) shipped from an actual Mazda dealer in Minnesota. I saved almost $50 over what my local dealership was charging. This part fit the 2012 Mazda 3 front LH door perfectly. I will note that it's such a waste that Mazda's design requires the entire door lock/latch assembly to be replaced when a simple cable end is broken off. Oh well.

Door stuck? Might be your actuator
Took my 2010 mazda 3 because the actuator was bad and door wouldn't unlock from the inside or outside at all. Dealership wanted to charge me 400 for just the part and an additional 200 for labor. I decided to buy this part and fix it myself so I saved myself a log of money. Took a bit of work to take the old one out and place the new one in but if you watch some YouTube tutorials you'll be able to do this in about an hour or two.
