Only acceptable insofar as it is one-of-a-kind
_Focus_ is just about the only board review book on this particular subject. Still, for an item so needed, so depended-upon, and so expensive, a far greater attention to editing and composition should be expected. Numerous questions are misphrased--badly enough that the seemingly correct answer is completely wrong. The explanations are often decent enough, but some vigilance is required because random paragraphs and facts are misstated. The bulk of the material is simply taken from Preston and Shapiro, as attested to by the abundant citations. This is not bad per se, but given the other flaws it points out how little additional value is gotten by this volume. In a perverse way, however, the errors and misstatements make it a better study aid, in that one has to carefully think through each question and answer and figure out where the book would otherwise lead them astray. That said, it's a tiresome way to study, and is best accomplished if done in a group.

Good book for Boards
There are too many errors in the book. However, it could be a very useful and helpful book for the Boards if the errors are fixed.

Needs a thorough editorial review and correction
This book fills a gap as the only test book for clinical neurophysiology. However, it is full of errors. There are about 20 cases where the answer (the explanation) at the end of the question section shows clearly that "A" would be the right answer while the correct answer is stated as "B" (in some of these cases it seems like the question should have been ended with "... except:"). In other cases the explanation misses the main point of the question. In some cases the answer is irrelevant to the main point of the question. Overall, the book has its own merits but seems to have been written in a rush and therefore, is in great need of a thorough editing by the authors and a professional editor. As far as the online version of the book (which is a great advantage) the publisher should make the window larger to make it possible for the reader to read the answers in one panel rather than scrolling down a very narrow window to read a few lines.

Poor work
I must agree with the first review noting the errors. There are many grammatical and reference errors. Items are mis-referenced and the answer keys will list the wrong answer. A number of questions are unclear and most answers are limited, perhaps being obvious an electromyographer (but then they wouldn't need this text). There are a number of questions repeated, which does not help the reader. Perhaps the most concerning are the content errors. One content error per book is acceptable, but anything beyond that brings into question the validity of the entire text. As the prior review noted, it's the only game in town. I have not tried the online content. Good luck.

Good preparation
There are not really that many question books for the Clinical Neurophys boards so I bought this to prepare for my boards. These questions are VERY detailed, which I think is good if you are studying. There were several repeat questions and answers which were a bit annoying. The worse part were the mistakes in the answers. It made me question other answers. But this book must have prepared me well since I took the ABPN clinical neurophys board and passed. (Oh, and there were actually 2-3 questions on the board that were VERBATIM from this book, which was a nice plus if i had remembered the answers!)
