Disappointing!
Potential buyers should be aware that the primary purpose of this book is to provide background context to persons planning to travel to Israel and not a detailed site by site guide (contrary to other works in the ‘Insight’ series). This is done with short essays on history and on varied topics such as language and culture, cuisine, sport, etc. Impractically, ‘places’ are treated with the same approach of a continuous text for each region: Jerusalem, the North Coast, the Inland Plains, etc.The book is abundantly illustrated with superb photos and its lay-out is lively and contemporary. Sadly, sentence structure is oftentimes awkward and many typos are present (that should have been caught by a decent word processor!). Though the book is dated 2015, it was clearly written at least a year previously.Overall, it appears a better investment in time and money to use other sources for planning a trip to Israel.

Great
A bit expensive but great content. Just what I wanted. A cheaper PAPER edition would be lighter to carry.

Useful, well written guide
Useful historical summary and practical guide. As often with guide books some of the eating info is out of date, but generally very reliable and useful.

Not very useful
I was very disappointed by the book. Luckily I managed to buy a better one when I arrived in Jerusalem.
