Manuscript Calligraphy Set - Masterclass Set

Writes very smoothly. Inexpensive but writes better than my more expensive fountain pens. I'd highly recommend this set.

The instruction manual included with this really does not offer a step by step plan to get better at writing, but is more an overview of common styles with some opportunities to practice. There are many resources on the internet, as well as other books on Amazon that are very good at teaching the basics. I was pleasantly surprised by the number of ink cartridges, the choice in nibs (writing tips) and the quality and flow of the ink for the price. This is a great set of pens for someone who is just starting out and trying to decide if calligraphy is for them. They are of a high enough quality that they give a good idea of the skill required to write well, but are not too expensive as to be a loss if you decide that calligraphy is not for you.

The pens great, but like many other calligraphy pens, they can have a bit of a learning curve. To people who have issues with the ink not coming out I recommend putting it in the slot and closing the pen then put it between both hands and roll it like you're making a stick fire for a minute or so. Afterwards take the top off and start to press down on the paper, preferably thick or isolated paper so it doesn't bleed through. Have a paper towel or a wipe to remove excess ink that may coat the pen.

I love calligraphy I was so looking forward to these pens. the first time I use them they leaked so I thought that maybe I had entered the ink cartridge incorrectly. so I cleaned the pen up replaced the ink cartridge and tried again once again ink on my hands this time I cleaned it up I entered a new cartridge check to make sure it was secure then ran a tissue around the pen and where the nib meet. there was inc. leaking from between the nib in the pen so I tried the other pen same thing these nibs are not securely attached to the body of the pen that's allowing for leakage between the nib and the pen

I would recommend not to buy this set. I have had other calligraphy pens that worked great. These pens are cheap plastic and the ink cartridges don't even flow ink through to the nib. I've tried all of them with different ink cartridges and none of them work. The book is good so the $26 I spent was for the booklet basically. I guess you get what you pay for. I'll be purchasing a more expensive pen set next.

Packaging is very flimsy. I bought this as a gift and it's extremely cheap looking. The packaging arrived partially crushed. It does what it's supposed to but is not of the quality I expected.

For the price of the set, you get the value of it. It's a good starter set. If you're a experienced in this area, then you will not like these pens. But they are still decently made, come with a practice pad of paper, an instruction pamphlet, two pens, nibs, and cartridges. I am gifting this to someone who expressed interest in it, and hope they enjoy writing! I have another beginner set from this brand and I think the same of that one too- good starter set for the price of the set.

Bought this for my niece. I used to do calligraphy as a girl and I was happy to buy this set for her when she showed interest in calligraphy too. It came in the box that is advertised, with plenty of ink colors, and fountain pens. The best part, in my opinion, is that it has a book of styles of calligraphy. This serves as a great model for her to practice in the different fonts.
