Product Description "A moving meditation on the quiet power inherent in vast spaces. Roach has come back around to the slow-motion terraforming of soundworlds that seem to go on forever, pulling skeins of light through layers of cloud to describe gorgeous imaginary landscapes. It's a blend of soul-surrounding calm edged with dramatic tension; Dynamic Stillness is Roach at his contemplative best, a sure and silent guide coaxing us to follow him into the endless realms inside ourselves." - John Shanahan, Hypnagogue."Mysteriously beautiful, ambient electronic waveforms bridging panorama and parsec. The singularities guiding Roach's hand are now unquestionable - this is breathtaking stuff." - Darren Bergstein, One Thousand Pulses.A vast work that developed over a three year period, evolving in it's own time alongside other simultaneous Roach creations. These eight tracks reach into a realm of amorphous soundworlds filled with a sense of unresolved expansion and mystery, blooming into cloud-like form. An essential inner breath, revealing a mastery within the art of sound creation, bold harmonic structures, silence and sonic space. Review Dynamic Stillness presents ambient-electronic pioneer Steve Roach in the deep end of the pure atmospheric, rhythmless soundscape genre. Across the 2-CD release, amorphous shifting sonics glide in a phenomenal flow, highly cohesive and yet ever-changing. ynamic stillness indeed! These eight long-form tracks (140 minutes in all) undulate softly and slowly, radiating light even as darkness hovers along the edges. It s an album of subtle pieces, more often than not with emphasis on the stillness as opposed to the dynamics. Disc two s closing Canyon Stillness plays like a dark inversion of Structures From Silence. A cold breeze blows through it all like a black mist. After so much softness it makes for a surprisingly chilling, engaging finish. - --Phil Derby, Electroambient Space

Commercial Space Travel
------------------Imagine you are boarding a passenger space ship bound for Europa. I heard thatthe food is pretty good in the capital city of Jupiter's moon. Wait. We have notgotten that far along yet. But suppose we have, and the passengers can sitin different places. All are nice areas, there is not any kind of Real Nice ComfortableArea as opposed to "C" passengers, that must endure limitations not offered oncoach. What you get to listen to on this passenger space jet is whatever you want, basically. There's a place where you can listen to this album. Or any of Steve Roach's albums.Dynamic Stillness is definitely ambient space music. Very high tech, zero noise, andno percussion. The album reminds me of tracks on Artifacts, a collection of Steve'spieces. Occasionally on Dynamic Stillness I hear voices---highly embedded voices.Fantastic work, I still have not heard all of Dynamic Stillness. I called it ambient space. When you hear it, you may be doing what I call drudgery...housework. You may noteven notice it, depending on other sounds you may hear, what is on your mind. Sotherefore the music is ambient. A far cry from elevator music. I think this 2-disc setis music, because electronic instruments and much digital manipulation is usedThe composer produces chords with keys. But as far as melody is concerned?Ligeti, a classical composer from Transylvania in the Baltics, has been controversialover the years. Because people argue, is this music? You have to hear Ligeti. ButRoach is contemporary and electronica, and not arresting like Ligeti's work.Roach might have got ideas from Kubrick's 2001 soundtrack. But the music isall the Western artist's own. So, pick out the best seating area on the space craft, listen to all of Roach's music because it's perfect for the voyage. Unless you wantto listen to another kind of music. I'd select Roach, and meditate...

Like a trip through Hypertime
I bought this to add to the wonderful experiences I've been having with Mystic Chords & Sacred Spaces. I get the most out of this type of ambient music by listening to it on my surround sound home theatre while meditating in the dark. It is more minimalist than certain previous works and I appreciate that. It's exactly what I expected and wanted.[The universe appears to somehow contain an abundance of matter over antimatter. Steve Roach is helping me cope with this sort of paradox. Thank you.]

As Refreshing & Desolate As the cover Images
I Have been through SO Much Steve roach in the last few months, that listening to anything else, In ANY other genre, has become a Chore! In My Mind, Mr. Steve Roach has opened a portal into heaven, To which no other music can even be juxtaposed against...This CD, While In Mr. Roach's Original Style, Seems to be An Untouched serenity of sorts... I Find that the music is Uplifting in its own mellow stance, And EVERYTIME It is played It seems like something I Have never heard before! There is Much More "Light", If you will, To this set of cd's Then, Say, the "Immersion" Series - Which is in its own High standards! My 5/5 Star review on this cd, Isn't only for the music, that has been carefully crafted by Steve Roach, But Also For the ambience in general, the Melody, & Artwork, that in my view, relates, In its entireity, to the sound!A Pleasure to listen to!Enjoy!

Dynamic Stillness indeed!
I agree with all the other reviewers here, this is an incredible album. Just when I think Steve Roach can't possibly top himself, he does exactly that."Slowly Revealed" just might be one of his greatest tracks ever, to stand beside many others that could be called his greatest ever. "Long Tide" is also a big favorite. To me, Steve Roach music is more about stirring up hidden feelings and emotions inside your own soul, than pointing you to nature. To that end, this release comes through in spades.Highly recommended.

Long Tide
The entire album is great, but the track Long Tide takes me to another dimension. This has to be my favorite Steve Roach track and possibly my favorite ambient track of all time.It has a deep, ethereal, flowing sound that simply takes me away every time I listen to it.If you are looking to get into the more ambient side of Steve Roach with modern production quality (though his older work is still timeless) I would highly recommend this album.

Haunting and transcendent.
This is proving to be one of my favourite Steve Roach albums. An invocation of the Southwestern desert, you don't need to have been there to appreciate the sounds of vast spaces and mysterious mesas and canyons. Perfect for pre-sleep shifting of consciousness. "Slowly revealed" in particular conjures me into deep and transcendent spaces.

Grande disco ambient
